Compressors are similar to pump
Compressors are similar to pump, both increase the pressure on a fluid and both can transport a pipe. As gases are compressible, the compressor also reduces the volume of a gas. Liquids are relatively incompressible, while some can be compressed, the main action of a pump is to pressurize and transport liquids.

Types of compressors
The main types of compressors are shown below:

Compressor types
Positive displacement

Dynamic

1. Reciprocating.

2. Rotary

1.Centrifugal. 2. Axial

a) Single acting.

a) Lobe

b) Double acting.

b) Screw

Dynamic Compressor
A type of compressor that delivers larger volumes of air at lower pressures. Common types of dynamic compressors include centrifugal and axial compressors.

Centrifugal Compressors
A centrifugal compressor is a radial flow rot dynamic fluid machine that uses mostly air as the working fluid and utilizes the mechanical energy imparted to the machine from outside to increase the total internal energy of the fluid mainly in the form of increased static pressure head.
During the second world war most of the gas turbine units used centrifugal compressors.
Attention was focused on the simple turbojet units where low power-plant weight was of great importance. Since the war, however, the axial compressors have been developed to the point where it has an appreciably higher isentropic efficiency. Though centrifugal compressors are not that popular today, there is renewed interest in the centrifugal stage, used in conjunction with one or more axial stages, for small turbofan and turboprop aircraft engines. 1|Page

A centrifugal compressor essentially consists of three components.
1. A stationary casing
2. A rotating impeller as shown in Fig. which imparts a high velocity to the air.
3. A diffuser consisting of a number of fixed diverging passages in which the air is decelerated with a consequent rise in static pressure.

Gas pressure- Liquids and gases flow. Not like liquids gases have no volume. This means gases can fit in a big space or a small space. Their molecules move closer together or farther apart. Gases spread as far as they can to fill any container. Gas could be moved into a small space. The same amount of gas could also fill up an entire room. This makes gases different from liquids.…

This third of the prison population that was placed in solitary confinement, one day may be released into society and asked to be socialized, when they were never rehabilitated, but rather segregated. The correctional facility is furthering the damage to inmate’s that are already psychologically unstable and furthering dissocializing these inmates, then releasing them. We would not even put animals in a situation where they would be isolated from others, because we understand the importance of socializing, but we do it to inmates and define it as humane and are confused why recidivism is so high. Solitary confinement without rehabilitation will lead to more issues, rather than solutions. Caging what society defines as animals, then isolating…

In common parlance, the term jet engine loosely refers to an internal combustion air breathing jet engine (a duct engine). These typically consist of an engine with a rotary (rotating) air compressor powered by a turbine ("Brayton cycle"), with the leftover power providing thrust via a propelling nozzle. Jet aircraft use these types of engines for long-distance travel. Early jet aircraft used turbojet engines which were relatively inefficient for subsonic flight. Modern subsonic jet aircraft usually use high-bypass turbofan engines. These engines offer high speed and greater fuel efficiency than piston and propeller aero engines over long distances.…
