From personal experience I would say light within architecture is what makes you feel uplifted as you walk into a room or a space. Light can be controlled and manipulated within certain spaces by adding light or having an absence of light. Light can completely change the dynamics of a room or space and can also have a very strong effect on the mood. Light within architecture can either be natural or synthetic, both creating a special experience within a room. In my research I will be focusing on natural light and light interventions.
Light can be brought into a room or a building by a number of different ways, most commonly by a window or perhaps panes of glass to give a larger supply of natural light. In my research instead of using windows I shall use light interventions to show my understanding for the light that would come through a window and into a room.

Tadao Ando, a self educated architect from Japan is influenced greatly by both modern and traditional architecture. Many of his ideas have come from his travels to a variety of countries through his life. His work itself is based on three fundamental characteristics; Geometry, nature and substance.
