This paper will cover the steps in testing a research hypothesis. This paper will cover comparing the means of two or more groups pay scale and we will use the graduate students from the University of Phoenix to compare data. Also included in this paper will be the calculation correlation between the two variables.
There are five steps that are used in testing a hypothesis to support beliefs about comparisons, groups or variables. The first thing we have to write out the hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis. Then we have to set an alpha level which is the amount of error allowed to determine the degrees of freedom. The researchers will chose and calculate the significance test the will fit the problem. This is how the researcher will calculate data. We will also use this in our example of how many University students that graduate with a degree in business obtain a job with that particular type of degree (Lane, 2007). The numbers that we use are not accurate and will be uses to compute the data.
Attending the University of Phoenix as students’ in varies Business majors brings questions that need to be answer. Moreover, questions about what kind of position are available, based on a specific major. Furthermore, pay scale what is the average starting pay scale? for a college graduate. The two comparisons for this paper will be in the Business field and the Computer Science field. In 2011, the average (mean) salary in Business was $50,446 on the other hand Computer Science was $59,234. Additionally, in 2012 the mean salary for Business was $51,541 on the other hand Computer Science was $60,038. The mean for 2011 was $54,840 and the mean for 2012 was $55,790 (Fastenberg, 2012). In summary, the two fields experienced a percent change in base salaries. However, Business had a higher percent change from 2011 to 2012 of 2.2% on the other hand in Computer Science the change was only 1.4%. It was determined that
