FOREWORD
In an effort to refine and complement legislative regulations in mining, the Decree of the
Minister of Mines and Energy No. 555.K/26/M.PE/1995 was published on May 22, 1995 on Occupational Safety and Health. The regulations on occupational safety and health prevailing previous thereto were Mijn Politie Reglement (MPR) Number 341 published in 1930.
These occupational safety and health regulations are formulated to be capable of anticipating any progress in the field of mining in Indonesia at this time as well as in the future. These regulations apart from being more up-to-date are also more complete as the regulation for underground occupational safety and health has been covered in detail, both in terms of coal and ore mines. These standards for occupational safety and health also exceed the standards of the previous regulations and they are expected to be capable of meeting practical demands in providing protection and instructions/information to all workers in mining who face the problem of occupational safety and health.
The stipulations in these occupational safety and health regulations should be complied with by any worker in mining operations to prevent the occurrence of any accident.
