Good morning, Salam perpaduan and salam Satu Malaysia,

I, Awang Zamri, as the President of Samarahan Charity so glad to be with all of you today in this wonderful function. First of all, I would like to thanks for the contibution that had been made for the Charity. Later on, the donation will be given to the needy and the poor in order to support their living. In behalf of them, I would like to thank you all.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Malaysians are generally caring people; most possess a giving spirit and are willing to help the less fortunate. A good way to help is by volunteering and doing charity work. There are various forms of volunteer and charity work which you can participate in. Whether charity involves donating money or goods, or volunteering your time, there is always something for everyone to do. We are not just doing donation to the needed and poor, instead we have a counseling services which is free for all.

The Qur'an states: ‘And be steadfast in your prayer and pay charity; whatever good you send forth for your future, you shall find it with Allah, for Allah is well aware of what you do’ (2:110). Charity is central to a Muslim's life.

The best charity is to satisfy a hungry person, said Prophet Muhammad (SAS). He also said “No wealth (of a servant of Allah) is decreased because of charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 2247).

Ladies and gentlemen,

My team and I had conducted a survey regarding low income and poor statistic in Kota Samarahan. The survey shows 19.7% of the samarahan families has catogorized as poor and about 40% are low income. We believed this matter can be solve as long the rest can cooperate together and lend their hand to overcome it. Together we can build a better society.

We must treat each other like brothers, sisters and family.

Religious believers should show compassion as the Bible teaches them to “do unto others as you would do unto yourself”, which means that you should help the poor to have good wealth, just as we have good wealth. In the parable of the Sheep and the Goats, we are told that God shall judge us when we die, sending us to Heaven if we help the poor or sending us to Hell if we don’t. There’s also a quote in Timothy that says, “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction”, meaning that we shouldn’t value our money over others, and we should share it out with the poor.…

I first heard of this charity when I was working at Chili’s, which raised over five point 2 million dollars in 2007. The stories and video that I saw were devastating and heartbreaking to watch. Did you know that many people around the world are suffering due to lack of resources within their countries? Some wealthier people and nations decide not to help these less fortunate people as they would rather spend money on frivolous things and think that it’s not their obligation. I believe that man has a moral obligation to help those less fortunate than him, though I believe that it is not morally right to only help those who are less fortunate just to make you feel like a better person.…

In my current role at Palm Beach Count Food Bank, I have the opportunity to feed people in need. I would love to continue to volunteer on a regular basis, because it changes me, and me perspective. We tend to think of what is not going right in our lives, but when we are intentional about putting others first, a thankful heart starts to develop. For that reason, I think it is crucial to be selfless and focus on the needs of others. I am not saying to neglect one’s needs of family, but to take time to acknowledge all the blessings the Lord has given to us in order to bless others. “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” (Hebrews 6:10,…

Donating, giving, and sharing are three related values that the majority of households in America all claim to practice and believe in. If this is true, then why is it so often that charities are underfunded? The problem is that many people seek happiness for themselves over the happiness of others. I believe that this is natural in human beings. When we are already so busy taking care of ourselves, I think we forget that other people could use a hand as well. Another underlying factor may be that many of us are not raised around charity. Instead of volunteering at shelters, America’s youth is often found at sports practices or at home fidgeting with technology, and until recently, I was no different.…
