Will Google glass be a breakthrough technology to assist people with disabilities?
It could make them feel more self-sufficient.
Because it helps the hearing impaired by bypassing the damage part of the ear
Because it helps the vision impaired by whispering details into their ear
Because Google glass can be accessible for the disabled i.e. taking pictures and recording
Because Google glass makes the disabled more independent instead of asking for assistance
Google Glass is unsafe for the disabled.
Because it stores information that can lead to being hacked
Because it can give false/misleading information
Because it makes them dependent on the glasses
Because it is not affordable
Because the safety/life of the disabled are dependent on the glasses
Because Google glass can be a distraction

Google Glass is a Hands free and heads up technology that is less distracting then pulling out your device. It even frees up the ear similar to a hearing aid. Also taking away the time that it takes to pull out your device and missing that important message, call, or even that special moment. Another is being disabled, imagine the things it can assist with; for example not being able to take pictures/record, or even answering a phone calls, but with Google glass it can aid with all of this by simply using voice recognition. Therefore, Google glass should be used to assist the disabled, because it could make them feel more self-sufficient.

Reading, listening, and observing everything that is given to me will also help me to use my time in a productive manner. Any questions or concerns I have can be sent through the appropriate channels so long as it is treated as a technical document. Any revisions I make are treated as final documents and graded as such. The city of Aspen Falls asked the author to review its website and make recommendations for making it more accessible to those with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act recognizes a broad array of people with disabilities and provides standards for creating web sites that are accessible to them. In California, 10% of the population reports some type of disability. In ages 65 or older, this increases to 37%. (U.S. Census Bureau 2010). This report discusses the results and recommendations of that review.…

It also known as the Harlem of the South. African-Americans held senior positions in the government and in the police and fire departments. The Great Fire of 1901 began in northern LaVilla and burned most of Jacksonville, though LaVilla's business district was spared. In 1929, the Ritz movie theatre was built. In the 1960s and '70s, the Ritz and LaVilla business and entertainment district declined; as the walls of segregation begin to fall, many middle and upper-class African-Americans used their new found opportunities to move to other areas of the city.…

Guilt is not a simple feeling but is a past event attached with a lesson in a person’s life. In the short story “Turkle” by David Carpenter, Elmer the farmer felt tremendous guilt after he told his wife, Elsie that he would be taking the children to school no matter the weather. This foolish action not only put his three children in danger but himself as well, resulting in the four almost all losing their lives.…

Privacy is perhaps one of the most personal issues in today’s society. Privacy is an intensely personal issue, and perhaps not only to the right of the individual to dress the way he or she desires, worship in any way he chooses, but also to expect that those rights be protected by the government that upholds them. At one point or another, every individual in our society has asked the question, “Is privacy in the 21st Century possible?” The answer lies in the exploration of what privacy really means, and what privacy issues society faces in today’s modern, informational, and digital age of what we call the 21st Century.…

As the video mentions " Technology is important for visually impaired students, because for one thing, it allows them to be equal to their sighted peers. The speech synthesizer for the blind students that replaces a computer's monitor, converting all visuals on the screen to speech is astonishing. I will definitely use this in my classroom (if needed) to allow a student/s who have a visual impairment to be able to use a computer. I don't think people understand the importance of just being able to use a computer - until they can't. I have seen non-impaired people become hopeless and lost when they are disconnected from their technology, so having a technology that can allow someone to just use a computer who otherwise wouldn't be able to...is the bee's…

Being blind or partially sighted means losing the ability to see facial expressions and gestures making it difficult for the person to understand what is being communicated. Not being able to read information can put the individual at risk, for example the information on medication packets, if this can’t be seen clearly or not at all it could lead to the individual under dosing, overdosing or taking the wrong medication which could lead to other health problems. Everyday tasks other people take for granted can become increasingly difficult for a person, the reading of labels on food packets where oven temperatures and times are written, the setting of the oven or microwave are examples of how hard things can become, not being able to read letters or bank statements and having to get others to do this can have an effect on maintaining confidentiality and independence. Even something as simple as going to your wardrobe and choosing an outfit for the day would become difficult for a person…

This year in college Studies I focused on the Critical Thinking subjects of Ethical Issues and Communication. Focusing on Ethical Issues and Social Responsibilities forced me to think of the issues at stake in the America and world, also what the consequences of my actions are on society. In order to reflect my learning of this subject I chose two papers which I used as my reflection essay for end of the semester. The first one is titled “Human Rights”. It forced me to look at the history of human rights and how they have been abused in the past or how they might be getting abused today. The second paper I chose to represent Ethical Issues and Social Responsibilities is titled “Power of Communication”. This semester forced me to do tons of research using books from Mesa College, UCSD and SDSU libraries, Journals, Magazines, and the internet. I learned a great deal from researching and writing.…

Google Glass is a titanium frame that is worn upon your head just as you would a normal pair of glasses. The main difference is that instead of having a pair of lenses, the device has a single “prism” lens that works as a visual overlay. (Forinash, 2015) “The prism is made of a silicon composite that easily transfers the picture. To the right of the prism is the camera that recognizes everything that is happening around the user. The CPU that powers Google Glass is located in the right leg of the device. Also in the compartment are the speakers and the microphone. At the end of the right leg is where the battery is located.
