Evolution of Language
“The evolution of the English language includes many changes, at the same time that more people in the world are using some version of English to communicate internationally, new jargons are emerging”(Rowe & Levine, 2009, Chapter 12) . Although some languages are disappearing, new languages are submerging and coming to the forefront of society. Language is the central heart of the world itself. Without language, the entire universe would be lost in transition. No one would know what was going on in the world, let alone around them
Change over Time
In society today, technology has changed extremely. Texting has become one of the most important ways to communicate; the way that one text has evolved over the years. Text messaging is so different now from when it first began. We as society try to find the shortest route to complete any task, and that also goes with texting. Instead of making out a complete sentence, people tend to just use acronyms or misspell words on purpose. A prime example is when you text someone and you want to say “Hello, how are you?” One might text; “Hey, wasup?” Another example is acronyms, there are many acronyms that are out today, LOL is for laugh out loud or laughing out loud, smh is for shaking my head, hru is for how are you, wyd is for what are you doing, and the list goes on and on. Other word that has changed over time is the word interface. Interface once was introduced as a crossing point of form of a line of some sort, now it is the means by which interaction or communication is achieved at an interface.
Another word that has made a drastic change throughout history is the word Rock ‘n Roll. Rock ‘n Roll has formed from the genre of music and has also broadened to suggest a lifestyle or a type of person rather than the genre of music itself.
