Mind vs. Truth F.Scott Fitzgerald’s quote , “whenever you feel like criticizing any one,” he told me,” just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had”, which begin the story the Great Gatsby. This quote itself portrays many different messages and creates different reactions in different people. The way I personally understand the quote, is that, don’t judge someone less you know have the right facts or you have personally stood in that persons position. More deeply saying that in society today we judge things upon our own thoughts not keeping in mind the other persons needs, wants or circumstances. Connecting this with a really common quote which we all use, “you can’t judge a book by its cover” by Bo Diddley. Both of the writers are saying the same thing. We as in society just know how to judge. We never look deeply into things to better understand them. However we continue to make comments. I personally do not like the way our society today functions. Keeping that in mind , I do agree that this quote is really true with its words because, as humans we are really judging upon how we think and feel about other without understanding someone else’s situation. I agree with each one of those words in this quote and to the fact that we need to stop and think before we speak, because we can never truly know the complete truth behind a situation we are criticizing.
