Future Goals of Nursing Essay Example
During my childhood and early teenage years, I can remember my English teachers asking things like “what do you want to be when you grow up?” and “What do you want to study in college?” As a child I would give a quick sentence or a couple of words of how I wanted to be a teacher, a counselor, or a marine biologist. As a student I have been expected to outline and prepare written papers about what I wanted to be when I grow up. My answers varied each and every year. I can remember many kids saying they wanted to become a nurse or a doctor. I can never remember wanting to become a nurse myself. It is through hearing the many stories I have heard from family members that are in the medical field and a sister that became a CAN and had planned to be a nurse that made me really begin thinking about nursing as a possible career.
The further I learned and read about nursing, the more I was intrigued. I chose to take Health Occupations 1 at KEC this year, my senior year in High School. By the end of this course I will become a CNA. Through this experience, it has not only provided me a deeper look into the medical field, but also has given my hands-on experience. I have come to realize that working in this environment and doing some of the dirtiest jobs seems to be a natural fit for me. I have surprised myself at my ability to do some of the jobs that most dread. It is my personality to want to help others and be there for them during their hard times, being the medical field can allow me to do just that.
I am aware that the training required to become a nurse is challenging and I am ready and willing to take this challenge on to get the training needed in order to become a nurse. I am excited about learning all that I need to learn. My future goal is to go through medical school, and become a Union Registered Nurse where I can help others and be in the midst of the medical field, which I

So originally I did not pursue the idea of nursing, I actually went into college thinking I was going to be a local high school teacher and wrestling coach, so I went and got my degree in Art Education, but while I was in college, I started working as a transport orderly at San Jose Medical Center before it closed, then went to Regional Medical Center of San Jose, where I started working as an Emergency Room clerk, and moved up to an Emergency Room Technician and loved the hands on with the patients. This is where I decided that teaching may wait till I retire from nursing, and nursing will become my career.…

Lack of experience at a younger age, perceived financial resource limitations, cross-country moves, etc. have all played a part in holding back allowing this interest turning into a reality. Now that I have had years in the retail, clinic and business pharmacy space to allow me to mature, I have educated myself about financial resources and have settled in my home of Phoenix, I feel that I am in a position to pursue becoming a registered nurse.…

Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…

I chose nursing as my profession because nursing is an integral part of who I am. I have always known I wanted to be a nurse. To care for people in need with compassion and empathy. When I was young I would make makeshift hospitals and treat any animal could get my hands on. I have always been fascinated by anatomy and physiology, so far as to operate and dissect on worms when I was younger. When I accidentally found my way into perioperative nursing I felt that I had found my calling.…

Becoming a Registered Nurse has been something that I want to become in the future, since I was twelve years old. At that time I experienced having my niece hospitalized when being a month old from pneumonia. Those moments are hard experiences that no one would like to experience but it is part of life. Therefore since that time I want to make a difference on the people who have to be hospitalized, helping them to recover. Although I would like to specialize with infants and children because they have a lower immune system and those are the most fundamental years of their lives.…

I loved helping anyone and everyone when I was little. Every time someone got sick, I would run and get them a blanket, even if they had a fever. I just wanted them to feel better; I knew how bad I felt every time I was sick. I wanted to make sure they felt comfortable when dealing with a sickness of any sort. The older I got, the more I realized that helping the ones around me was a passion. I remember in middle school we had to pick a career to research, and I ended up choosing Nursing. I would have picked being a doctor, but the nurse is the one who is one on one with the patient most of the time, and that’s what I want. I saw the vast specialties that nursing had to offer, and I immediately chose Neonatal Nursing. Neonatal nurses are the…

Nursing is a second career for me. It is one I have approached gradually, over a long period of time. I might have chosen it as a first career if I had been a better student when I entered college, or had people in my life who were involved in healthcare careers when I was growing up. As it was, I had a longstanding interest in health and the human body, but nursing seemed very foreign, and the idea of touching strangers made me uncomfortable.…

At first I was drawn to nursing as it was what my mother had done for a living for many years and I had seen much of what she did first hand with my many injuries in sports and being an adventurous child. As I went into high school and was able to see what it truly takes to be a nurse, with all of the bedside manner and to say it simply “blood and guts,” I began to rethink my decision to go into nursing. While it takes less schooling to become a nurse, it is an extremely rigorous course load and an arduous task for someone who is not fully committed to that field of work. I experienced the same kind of trials while looking at other health professions such as becoming a doctor, a veterinarian, or a dietician before finally coming to the realization that none of these were the career path for me.…
