In Vanderkam’s essay she describes hookups as something that only happens during late nights and only when alcohol is involved, which is not always true. According to Andrea Andrews in her essay, Friends with Benefits, “Undergraduates (82.2%) were significantly more likely to be involved in a friends with benefits relationship…” In our generation college students have taken hooking up to the next level. Instead of having a lover or being completely alone we have come up with being just friends but having all the sexual benefits from a relationship. As a college student there are many times where I have looked out my window about 7:00pm and seen a female go into a male’s dorm room and about an hour or so later she leaves. We can clearly see that they were hooking up way before the party hour. Granted going to parties where alcohol will be served there is a good chance that more than one person will be getting lucky but hookups can happen during anytime of the day with or without alcohol.
Hookups or Friends with benefits both are still happening more rapidly
