After thoroughly examining this company's financial statement, I have observed that three strengths of the financial statements are; that this company discloses financial statements from the early 90’s to present, which allows investors to view the company's development; It show the cash flow statement, so investors can see how much cash the company has to work with, and the financial statements include notes so an investor can follow any accounting differences not readily available by looking at the financial statements.…

After reviewing the information about the asset, debt, and equity it does not appear that the company has improved for the given two years. The assets all together are in fact lower than the prior year. The company earned a lesser amount of money in 2004 than in 2003. The majority of the assets seem to be inventory that has not been sold. In my opinion one should truly see more assets from sales instead of it coming from inventory. The long-term debt essentially has risen between the two years, which would not be a positive for the company. The company ought to be making the long-term debt decrease over the years, not rise up. Therefore, reviewing the information given I would not l say that the company is doing better than the prior year.…

Jeannette Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, gives a vivid description of what life is like growing up in a poor family where parental negligence and limited supervision is common. Walls grows up with a high tolerance for hard times and bravery that is unmatched. Her self-sufficiency and education helped Walls escape her difficult childhood and poor family life growing up. Walls’ memoir clearly refutes the statement made in The Great Gatsby by Daisy Buchanan that "the best thing a girl can be in this world, [is] a beautiful, little fool” (Fitzgerald 17). In Walls’ eyes, the best thing a girl can be is strong, motivated, and, most importantly, educated. Throughout The Glass Castle, Walls uses anecdotes, figurative language, and a repetition of words that proves her stance is one that plainly contradicts Daisy’s statement about what furthers the life of women.…

    Summary: The Glass Statue

    • 285 Words
    • 2 Pages

Society is a glass statue hanging on the edge of a cliff. It is only held on by thin strings that keep it from crashing. If one string was cut, society would slip and crack. These crucial strings are held tightly in place by an anchor. That anchor is respect. If respect were uprooted all the strings would fail and the glass statue would topple and shatter on the ground.…

The glass wall between the person and the body of water is a great representation of the increase in human power. The glass wall is protecting the person, standing in front of the wall, from water and from those creatures which are on the other side of the glass wall while letting the person observe the situation as the dinosaur chases the Great White Shark. The glass wall also indicates that the place where the man is standing is located underwater. This shows that humans can protect themselves from various natural powers and can study the situation while protecting…
