Group/Residential Case Study
Individual Report
This should be your personal critical appraisal addressing the following areas:
1. Your team’s performance, and your performance within it.
2. The development process – to include methodology, team structure, procedures and processes your team used.
3. Your team’s final product.
4. The module content and structure.
In each case you should discuss the how it was done, successes and failures, and suggestions for improvement.
The report should be about 1200-1500 words (not a lot, but expecting you to be able to identify the key issues). Please include a word count.
Hand in a printed version to the School Office and submit an electronic copy via Blackboard’s Dropbox and put in your group area on the server.
Tips
There are no marks for just saying what you did (your assessors already know that – they were around throughout the semester!). The marks are for analysing/assessing whether the things you did worked well or badly, why that was and how it could have been improved. Think of this as your conclusions on the project – step away from what you did and turn yourself into an assessor.
Getting Data into the Student Enrolment Database
The data base that you have been supplied with on the data stick is empty of student data (although I have since discovered that there are a few records still there that shouldn’t be!). It does already have award, module and timetable data on there
The original idea was to supply you with an excel file of student data (names, award, date of birth etc) that you could simply (!) edit and import into your empty database. However I had forgotten what a pain this is and what I don’t want is for you to be spending all your initial analysis time solving this problem. That is not to say that I don’t want the import problem solving but as you redesign your system it may be that some of the problems go away (or at least become different)
