The Company
Crocs designs, manufactures and distributes footwear and accessories for men, women and children. They strive to be the global leader in the sale of molded footwear featuring fun, comfort, color and functionality. Their primary products utilize proprietary closed cell-resin, called Croslite. The company uses a material that produces innovative, lightweight, non-marking and odor-resistant footwear. They currently sell their products in over 90 countries through retailers and distributors and directly through company retail stores, outlets, kiosks and web stores.
Crocs, Inc. is a shoe manufacturer founded by three friends -- Scott Seamans, Lyndon "Duke" Hanson, and George Boedecker, Jr.-- to produce and distribute a foam, clog design acquired from a Quebec company called Foam Creations. The shoe had originally been developed as a spa shoe. In 2002, they launched the marketing and distribution of the original clog style footwear in the United States. The unique characteristics of Croslite enabled them to offer consumers a shoe unlike any other footwear model then available.
Since the initial introduction and popularity of the Beach and Crocs Classic designs, they have expanded Croslite products to include a variety of new styles and products and have further extended their product reach through the acquisition of brand platforms such as Jibbitz, LLC (“Jibbitz”) and Ocean Minded, Inc. (“Ocean Minded”). The company continued in branching out into other types of footwear so as to bring a unique and original perspective to the consumer in styles that may be unexpected from Crocs. The company believes this will help to continue to build a stable year-round business as it looks to offer more styles oriented for the appropriate weather. The company’s marketing efforts surround specific product launches and employ a fully integrated approach utilizing a variety of media outlets, including print and online, and even driving business to both
