What influence do these forms of media actually have over us? (family life, lifestyle, alcohol, role models, music, the occult, astrology etc)…
Visual entertainment media is a part of everyday life, anywhere from cellphones, television, internet, newspaper, etc. All of the forms of visual entertainment media have helped shaped America, also the culture and values that have developed over the years. The most common visual entertainment media form that has shaped, influenced, the culture and values in America is cable television. Cable television covers so many different forms within itself, news channels, religious channels, debate channels, and different types of local television programs. Each of these channels carries their own message, with entertainment values that are viewed by the person watching the program. Many forms of visual entertainment carry a negative social influence message, self-education is important on these types of visual entertainment in order to determine what best fits your personal situation. If there are, guidelines that are set on, what type of visual entertainment are acceptable, internet access, cell phone access, and television channels. Than the amount of negative influence, someone may be subjected to can be cut down dramatically, giving the opportunity for positive experiences to be put in its place. The idea of visual entertainment media is to help spread education, and social entertainment purposes. One way to ensure that this is the experience that is shared is to limit what you make available to your family and how much is acceptable. I think that it is very easy for adolescent minds to be subjected to influence, both positive and negative depending on what their social surrounding support frequently. If a child is exposed to violent, sexual, or death filled entertainment, it is more likely for them to incorporate these things into their everyday social environment. This affects their social behavior and attitudes to not only peers, but also any given situation. The influences these entertainment types have can either become a person or just be a part of everyday…

The movie Starwars by George Lucus, is more than just a piece of entertainment because it was way ahead of it’s time and because it is carried on by tens of thousands of fans. Starwars was created by George Lucus and was the very first Starwars movie out of a total of six movies altogether. It was actually the fourth in the set timeline. Lucus made Starwars, Starwars the Empire Strikes Back, and Starwars The Return of the Jedi, before continuing on with Starwars Phantom Menace, Starwars Battle of the Clone Wars, and Starwars Return of the Sith which were meant to be based earlier in time leading up to the original Starwars. Lucus captured thousands of fan’s imagination and creativity through the years of creating, directing, and producing all six Starwars movies, who are to this day called Starwars Junkies or better known as Fan Boys. To this day Lucus’s creation is well known and enjoyed by tens of thousands of people. Once Starwars was created it, spawned a new generation in movies, games, toys, fashion wear and child-thru-teen accessories such as school supplies. Even though this six movie set were only make believe movies, and held no real truth to them, they still sparked interest in thousands of children around the world. Every kid had their favorite character and wanted so badly to be them. From children running around in their backyards pretending to be fighting the Phantom Menace to teens playing Starwars video games, these movies were welded into popular culture and will forever remain as such.…
Entertainment media has had a profound effect on the way American culture has evolved. It has at times brought people together and equally torn them apart. Music, television, and film provide an incomparable outlet for expression. They allow individuals (and groups) to inform, to share what is important to them, to be creative and innovative. With all of the different types of entertainment media in America, society is exposed to so much more than would have been possible without these mediums.…
There are many forms of visual entertainment readily accessible to us; it has become the primary source of entertainment. Visual entertainment only has not helped shape American culture but also its values. Visual entertainment comes in many forms; whether it is reading a newspaper, magazines, or just watching television. Visual media has many numerous advantages as well as some disadvantages. Advisements are used to target individuals that find their product appealing. This compels viewers to buy the latest technology gadget or to wear the latest fashion clothes. Media has also changed the way we communicate and this has improved our culture in many ways. For example, in the recent years it has been possible to connect on real time with someone across the world through a computer. Now we are able to connect with people through a simple device like the IPhone 4S. The IPhone 4S lets a person talk through face time and allows them to see each other. Visual media has also made a huge impact on young children and teenagers. With all the new artists coming out changing the music and media culture the younger generation is looking up to them more each day. The younger generations view these artists as role models and want to be exactly like them.…
The major developments in the evolution of mass media during the last century is technology. Today technology is major to society and it is what we mainly rely on vs. back in the day they only had newspapers and mail. In today’s society, a regular person will wake up in the morning look at their phone and check the time. After they then check the time they begin surfacing the internet to see what is happening around the world. They might turn on the TV and watch the news. After they get ready they will get into their cars, turn on the radio and listen to music and/or talk show station. After reading this you will think this is a normal morning. Back in the old…
The media is at our fingertips and accessible almost all hours of the day, of course it’s going to have an influence on the way people think and act. The issue is the negative messages that the media is presenting. Media’s power helps spread false information that cultivates racist beliefs and broadly speaking, a culture of hate and violence. One example is seen in social media and advancing technology. There are countless cases of photo shopped pictures, and innocent people are attacked for this false reality perpetuated by media. For example, there was a picture circulating, even some news websites used it, of a Sikh man who originally was holding his ipad but it was photo shopped to him holding the Qur’an with a bomb strapped to his chest.…
From its inception, visual entertainment media has not only shaped American culture, but also its values. While both TV and movies aired only what was socially moral and politically correct in their beginnings, they soon began to air what would garner the most ratings and money. We are a society that has made movie stars what they are today, yet we also criticize their every move. Visual entertainment media has come a long way from the censorship and monopolies of the 20th Century. While American culture has been shaped by visual entertainment media over the decades, visual entertainment media has been shaped by American culture at the same time.…
In American culture, media consumption holds a significant amount of influence over the way individuals perceive the world around them. While various forms of media can be used to provide information and entertainment, hurtful stereotypes, such as those based on gender, can be found in all forms of media in some capacity. Due to the considerable role the media plays in the everyday lives of most Americans, the normalization of these stereotypes can have an adverse effect on individuals who are members of the group being targeted. With the increase in accessibility brought about by devices such as tablets, laptops, and smartphones, the impact of media continues to grow. According to an article on forbes.com written by Mark Hughes in 2015, the…
The media affects people of all ages, gender, and stereotypes. There are so many ways that today’s media can influence people. Whether its advertisements on the internet, billboards along the highway, magazines in stores, television, newspapers, or even posters. The media is everywhere and it’s impossible to avoid. In my opinion, the internet is the farthest reaching for of the social media outlets. I believe this because the internet gives every single person the freedom the search anything they want. The main purpose of the media is to gain someone’s attention to whatever the media is trying to sell. Popular groups that are the most affected are women, children, teen’s especially teen mothers, and athletes. Children are the most effected in my opinion. Young teens and children (me included) will nag their parents to purchase goods and services seen in ads. In this day and age, cellphones are the most profound. The latest gadgets are a must have for young adults. Apple seems to be the largest advertiser of new must have gadgets. Speaking of young adults and children, reality television is a very popular form of media that some should not be exposed to. Being that it promotes vulgar language, drinking and drug use and abuse, and sex, reality television shows have a deep impact on today’s culture.…
The media put our environment in perspective by giving several aspects, meaning and explanations relating to it. They help establish our agendas by giving us things to think and talk about; they help us become socialized into our communities and political system and to participate in change when necessary; and they help us cope with or escape from life’s realities in a variety of ways. In short, the greater our need to belong, to understand, to cope with several situations and the greater our reliance on the mass media. Hence the media must have some pervasive influence on our thoughts, beliefs, values, and even our behaviour. Television is a popular and powerful medium that both imitates and influences culture. For many people, television is a primary source of information and entertainment. It is a window into a different world an opportunity…
