I Dream of
I dream of strange horizons, where the sun never sets.
I dream of strange lands where the sky is strange to me.
I dream of landscapes that are new and strange, I dream of lands that only I have ever seen.
I dream of travels around the globe, looking at a new sunset every day, at a new sunrise every morning.
I dream of crawling through tiny spaces and looking at the small beaches no one ever visits, at the sand no one ever treads on.
I wish to wake up every morning not knowing the road will take me, not caring about where I might end the night.
I want to live every moment as if it were my last.
I dream of stars and their secrets, of the millions of stories in their bellies.
I dream of the pristine planets around them, I dream of the strange rings that surround them.
My minds eye wanders the night sky, rushing through space, escaping earth, escaping.
I float away, imagining the brilliant beauty that surrounds us, the comets, the meteors, the lost planets that may be thrived with life once.
I travel to dead stars, I sit and ponder on their glorious lives.
I attend super novas and big bangs, look at a new star being born.
I see gas clusters, I see planets forming, I see the beginning of life.
I dream far and wide, my body floats away, trying to gauge the length to the other galaxy, yearning to know its secrets.
I dream of a place far away from here, a place for me, where the sun never sets, and where the sky shines blue, where thebeaches have no ones footprints but my own, where the world stands still as I lie down, where I can be quiet and listento my heart beat, my breathing, where I can sit and not notice the time pass me by.
I dream.

When I was younger I had a very vibrant dream in the back of my mind. My family has never been the rich family, and I have never gotten everything I wanted. I had this dream, that I would be the one to save my family from poverty. I’d get famous, have tons of money, and bring my family to live in my mansion. Most of my time was spent thinking about that single dream that I had for years.…

Being exposed to different kinds of poetry from childhood, I grew fond of it though now I prefer fictional prose to poetry. As a profoundly sensuous form of creative writing, poetry both challenges my mind and conquers my aesthetic sense with its subtle wording. But specifically because it is a thought provoking and demanding form of writing I do not read poetry often. Therefore, the variety of topics, styles and forms of poems collected in Alehouse Journal 2011 disoriented me completely. However, the poems were carefully selected and united under the common styles, topics, and forms. Dreams was one of such topics. The complex nature of dreams make them one of the most prolific topics in poems.…

    Are Dreams Meaningful

    • 919 Words

Since the beginning of time, the interpretation of dreams has been used as a means to provide guidance for future actions or as warnings. Some dreams are so bizarre that they have often been ascribed to the soul having an out of body experience (Tedlock, 1987). While dreams are often defined as successions of random visual images, these images are only a complement to the feeling of being absorbed into a fantasy world in which things happen, actions are carried out, people are present, and emotions are felt, a mimicry of the sensation of being awake in every way. While elaborate, mystery still surrounds the meaningfulness of dreams and how they relate to humanity in this universe.…

    Dream Analysis

My dream had begun on a deserted shore. After a while, I was able to find a little cottage that belonged to a fisherman. I needed from him a boat in order to get to an island (it looked like a great mountain that was rising from the water and was covered with snow). All of a sudden, I sat in the boat with four of my roommates as well as with my father and grandfather. However, only then have we found out that we do not have enough food to get to that island, so we turned our boat back to the harbor. Upon our return, we had gone into a forest that was covering almost all of the land that we were able to see. After a period of time, the length of which I was not able to determine, we have found an arbor and there were many deer running around it. But instead of shooting any of them, I shot an old ugly pig with six bullets. That was the end of my dream. The next day in the morning I wrote it down as soon as I woke up.…

Have you ever wondered what the meanings of your dreams are? Dream interpretation has been a worldwide fascinating topic of discussion for centuries. There has been much speculation on questions regarding the origin of our dreams, and their meanings. For some people, dreams are just a byproduct of our brain. For others dreams have psychological value as they reflect our deep-seeded desires and thoughts. Art has explored the dream dimension, with the movement of Surrealism.…

When I was eight years old, I peered through a telescope for the first time in my life. It was a small device, no more than two metres long, and yet it let me glimpse a brilliant view of Jupiter: it was the size of a marble, magnificently striated in hues of brown, red and orange. Then, when I was 13, I went to the Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad, where I revisited my five-year old fascination with Jupiter as I sat spellbound in the arena as a cosmic dance played out in the canvas stretched above my head: stars flew around, tumbling in and out of the horizon, the rings of Saturn floating serenely in space, moons rising and setting through a mélange of blues, yellows and greens.…

Each and every night our eyes grow heavy and our minds tire. We find ourselves dragging our feet to bed. Normally we drift off to sleep and enter a stage of dreaming. As we fall asleep, our brain prepares for dreaming. Dreaming makes night interesting. Some dreams go in and out of our mind for long, while we can recall others just a few seconds after. But what is the truth about them? Dreaming is a natural event our minds go through at night.…
