I finally woke Up!
For a period of time, I have been thinking about returning back to school to complete my education. I have been in the Administrative/Finance area my entire career. I also have a passion for the Administrative field. I enjoy working with computers and organizing/designing.
Recently, I’ve been invited to attend an Executive Administrative Conference, and what an experience. This conference takes place every year on my job, and this year I asked my manager, can I attend. Of course, she agreed and that was all I needed. I had been geared up about attending the conference since February, when the actual date was on April 19th, 2013. Prior to attending the conference I knew that something great was about to happen to me. I didn’t quite know who, what or when this greatness was going to be revealed, but it was on the day of this conference. On the morning of April 19th 2013, I got up out of bed, said my prayers as normally, and prepared for my day to attend “The Conference”. I got on my regular scheduled bus and rode into Manhattan, then took the New Jersey transit into Newark, NJ. where the conference was held. Upon arrival, I went up to one of the building where my job is also located in Newark, NJ. They had prepared a vacant office for me to work, until the conference which would begin at noon that day. I had also met two other co-workers at the location, as they too were attending the conference. The speaker Simon T. Bailey touched on every area of thought that I have been struggling with for some time. It was almost as though, he was reading my mind. During the duration of the conference, Simon spoke on his book entitled, The Vuja de Moment which means “already see it before it happens”. This is the reverse of the French saying Déjà vu which means to literally “already seen”. Occasionally, you have to get out of your comfort zone and pursue your goals in life. We must set goals and have a plan and then follow them once we set our goals.

Ecology is the study of how organisms interact within their environment. Every species interacts with its surroundings, whether it’s within their populations, community, ecosystem, etc. In this lab, we will be comparing two different species and how they grow alone as well as together, in the same environment. More specifically, in this lab, we will be dealing with one of the most important ideas in ecology, the niche. Due to this concept, we can study the environmental circumstances the organism can handle, the essential resources it will need to survive, and how it will obtain these resources. “Different species can hold similar niches, and the same species may occupy different niches” (Wikipedia). This could mean that although these two organisms are living in the same environment, they are still capable of growing because it is possible for different species to live in the same niche and share the same limiting resource.…

During the meeting there was a break where everyone stood up and got coffee and broke into a small conversation groups. The was where I did most of my observing and began to realize even more these people are people just like me, the only difference between them and I was that their reactions to situations were different than mine. Stories were told of going to birthday parties, dinner and even work situations. These stories were no different than my everyday life, the only difference was that after the situations I like to come home and talk to my children and husband they like to have a drink to relax. As the meeting came to an end another pledge was being spoke and everyone stood up and held hands in a circle for the pledge. It was at that very moment I was no longer nervous and had changed my thoughts. I held hands, I joined the group, and I wanted to help be a part of their recovery…

Various intervals you are put in a location where you are not acquainted with the outcome and might have anticipated that you may possibly have gone to greater heights to accomplish it. Some encounters later you might realize what went wrong and how you could have improved to undertake the situation that was not favorable to your style of approaching it. I have encountered this type of dilemma a few times in my life and some of those times I still do not have an adequate solution. One time I was in line to see a famous singer in a stadium, as I entered through the doors and was trying to communicate with the individual managing the ticket booth however was having a difficult time. This caused a great deal of distress as my show was about to…

Generally speaking, Edmundson’s essay is a composition I can agree with. He posits that the desire exhibited by many members of my own generation, a desire I myself relate to, can either help them to truly experience life, or it can be mishandled and cause a life of indecision and impossible expectations. Personally, I believe the key theme of this essay is the idea that possibilities are positive, but only because they pave the way for reality. If we allow ourselves to become curators of an infinite number of futures, instead of voyagers intent on discovering where our future lies, the we will never truly experience life to its full potential. With sitting back and allowing life to act as an external force is one extreme of the spectrum of ways to live your life, and a manic overexposure to options on the other, Edmundson argues for a golden mean. This middle ground involves both seeking new possibilities, and allowing yourself to fully experience those possibilities without neurotically planning the future.…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…
