Headline: comet strikes may have jump-started life on earth
Summary: Life's building blocks can form in the hardest environments like deep space, some new study suggests, that a comet or meteorite strike may have started the life on Earth.
There are Linked pairs of amino acids that are called dipeptides, they can take shapes in hard conditions.
These Dipeptides we’re brought to Earth from a comet or meteorite billions of years ago may have then made the formation of even more complicated molecules needed for life like proteins and sugars.

Analysis: I think it’s a great thing that the scientist found a new theory. With this theory people can find great answers to all of their questions. They also might find new organisms.

Amino acids bond through covalent peptide bonds this occurs via a condensation reaction, which is when one amino acids hydrogen & oxygen (carboxyl group) and another amino acids hydrogen (amino group) react releasing a spare molecule of water (see figure 6) and forming the peptide bond between the carbon and nitrogen, going on to form a polypeptide chain if there are four or more amino acids in the…

BSC2011C Final Review Unit 1 Review Ch. 25, 22, 23, 24, 26, 19, 27 Ch. 25 1. Life is metabolism and heredity. Metabolism is the mechanism that creates order and complexity from chaos, by acquiring and expending energy. Heredity is the ability of an organism to copy itself and it is broken down into: i. Multiplication, ii. Inheritance, iii. Variation. 2. DNA codes via RNA for 20 of naturally occurring amino acids. Amino Acids are the building blocks of proteins and bodies. DNA stores and transmits hereditary information, but proteins do most of the work. DNA IS THE UNIVERSAL DIGITAL CODE FOR LIFE. To replicate and synthesize proteins, DNA relies on the pre-existence of protein molecules and RNA molecules. 3. RNA is the bridge between DNA and proteins, via mRNA for transcription and rRNA for translation. Thus, RNA can survive on its own while DNA relies on the existence of RNA and proteins, with them DNA is helpless. 4. The 4 points of “first life” are: 1. The Abiotic (non-living) synthesis of small organic molecules, such as amino acids and nucleotides. 2. The joining of these small molecules into macromolecules, including proteins and nucleic acids. 3. The packing of these molecules into “protobionts,” droplets with membranes hat maintained an internal chemistry different from that of their surroundings. 4. The origin of self-replicating molecules that eventually made inheritance possible. 5. The first cells to develop occurred in this order: Monomers > Polymers > Protobionts > RNA ‘world’ > DNA protobionts > first cell. 6. Fossils are the evidence of life and evolution. Organisms trapped in sediment > remain mineralized with hard and soft parts. 7. Fossils can be dated by two methods: Radiometric dating & Magnetism. In Radiometric dating, the age is based on the decay of radioactive isotopes. A radioactive “parent” isotope decays to a “daughter” isotope at a constant rate. The rate of decay is expressed by the half-life, the time requires for 50% of the parent…

Amino acids are like bricks that has something sticking out the side. These side chains differ in their properties and this results in the amino acid giving different physical properties. These properties are essential to giving a protein its required shape and its ability to interact with other molecules. Usually amino acids are considered to be charged negatively or positively, polar or non-polar. If you have a large number of non-polar amino acids together they will try and fold the protein so they are far away from the surface, where they would be exposed to water, while polar residues do the…

When we talk about science, many people hear the term “theory”. The definition of a scientific theory can become confusing since many people interpret the meaning differently. When a person uses the term “theory” in a sentence it is usually used in a non-scientific way. They assume that a theory is something assumed, but not proven. When the term “theory” is used in science, it means an explanation based on observation, experimentation, and reasoning. It has been tested and confirmed as a general principle to explain phenomena. A scientific theory must be based on careful examination of facts. “A theory is a hypothesis or set of hypotheses that has stood the test and (so far, at least) has not been contradicted by evidence” (Suplee 9).…

This experiment is significant because it shows that the key molecules of life could have formed the atmosphere in early earth. (Yahoo answers)…
