I Survived 6th Grade
My experience for 6th grade was great. My first day at Portola Middle School was horrible and terrifying. First, I could not find any of my classes anywhere for a while. Second, I couldn’t get my lockers open. Last, it scary to be around the 7th and 8th graders. In homeroom, I was really scared of Ms. Shores, she looked very scary. After came period 1, where I had no idea where to go. I went all the way to the bungalows (S-3, S-4, etc.) when I supposed to walk across the 8th grade lawn to Ms. Sheriff’s Creative Writing class. I was late to class, but was not marked tardy because we were still getting used to it.
The second thing that happened, during period 2, the students were learning how to open lockers. I was standing there trying to open my locker. I couldn't open my locker. I couldn't open my locker that period until my homeroom teacher opened it for me. I can't tell you how stupid I felt when my Ms. Shores opened my locker in one try and I couldn't even open in like the 50 tries I did. When I went to P.E., they told us that we were not going to get our locker until we start to dress. I was really happy because I didn't need to deal with another locker problem for a couple of weeks. During lunch, I didn't recognize too many people from last year. I only sat with a few friends at the lunch tables at lunch time. I felt like I was in the 1st grade again in front the 7th and 8th graders. I felt as if the 8th graders were going to bully me or knock me down to the ground. I kind of felt really scared in front of them. the 8th graders used to stare at us as if they were going to kill us. The 7th graders just used to laugh at us. I wanted to punch them until they got a bloody nose, but I knew I would get in trouble. When I was in 5th grade, we were the tallest and biggest kids in the school than the other kids. Now, we are the smallest kids in the school. A week or two passed now. They expected us to know where

Rest of the school year went like this; my peers would try to talk to me, and I would not say anything. I wanted to scream because I hated being the center of attention (I still do) and these people would just not leave me alone. Slowly, the attention died down but until 5th grade I was referred as the “New Girl,” which was amusing since I had been there for three years already.…

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

In grade 6 I went to a great school called David Leeder Middle School. Even though none of my friends from grade 5 were in my class, I had an amazing year. All of my teachers were fabulous except for one. My math and science teacher was the worst teacher I had ever had. I remember that she would always yell at us for asking her questions about our work. In grade 7, I was also in David Leeder, but this was the best year I had ever had in my life. Every single teacher of mine were very good and they taught everything very thoroughly. Also, I made a lot of friends during this year. Academically I had the best year and I took part in extra curriculars such as soccer and volleyball. During these two years I went to Pakistan, I went to New York…

This was very frustrating, for both myself and my teacher, because at the time I was in a school for early and rapid learners. My second grade teacher had tried to convince my parents to remove me from the school because I did not “belong” there, but I knew I did. After all I had passed the test, just as every other student, and was awarded acceptance into the school. To this day I am still very thankful that my parents did not remove me from the school, because it helped me grow into the person that I am now. Being in a very competitive environment, academically speaking was very…

When they called us down for the assembly we went down class by class, and they were talking about the B.L.I.G.H.T (Big.Learning.Important.Georgia.Horrible.Test). During the assembly I was just doodling in my notebook until I drew a life like zombie picture of Principle Wright. Then Vice Principal Monk took the notebook and then 5 minutes later I was in the Principal's office.…

Summer went bye like it wasn't even there and by the time school started I was very depressed. The new school I was going to was Naperville North High School which was about ten times the size of my old school in Pennsylvania in size and in the number of students. In my school in Pennsylvania there were about twelve students in each class, here the number runs around thirty two. The school building was so big I had a lot of trouble getting to class on time let alone finding them in the building. The school wasn't what I was bothered by the most because it was the fact that I didn't have any social life and I was a social person. There were a lot of different groups of people at my new high school, it was tough for me to fit in and meet new people. Everyone just knew me as the new kid and didn't even bother to find out what my real name was. The first month of being the new kid is a very hard month of school. I knew no one who I had anything in common with and began to get terrible grades in…

When we arrived to school our teacher, Mrs.Brooks, told us to clear our desks so we could commence the exam as soon as possible. I was so nervous my hands were trembling uncontrollably. This test could either go in two directions , I could pass the class with a solid B or flunk the class and would have to attend summer school. I repetitively…

I understand that the years after kindergarten where more difficult than you thought it would be and it is very different you never worried about being lonely or being bullied and frankly you don't have to until those rumors started going around and you lost all your friends or who you thought where your friends at least but you had few who stayed and you clung to them hoping that they wouldn't leave you too and they didn't not until a few years later when they where in different classes and when you did see them they where in the popular crowd like you once where loved by many but because of that they left you. when you reached second grade you started to get bullied not physically but in simple little ways like dirty looks and moving away from you and nobody really wanted to be your friend but you had a few friends and they tried to help you and they did for a while, when you finally reached third grade you started to bully others because you just wanted the pain and loneliness to stop you only did this once or twice but even still you came home feeling horrible knowing you just hurt someone who did not deserve it you grew quiet you almost never spoke in class and when you found someone who was nice to you, you clung to them really needing some support but you only seemed to anger them and they turned away from you all because you needed some support to know that someone besides your family cared for…

It was a typical first day of school. Rushing to get ready, finding the perfect outfit, cliche first-day-of-school pictures. When I got to school, everything was normal. Life was good. But, in a weird class I had called “Creative Learning”, we were given an assignment. It wasn’t a normal assignment. We had to write a horror story, and we were…

6th grade came to an end and 7th grade came around next. 7th grade was the beginning of junior high school. Junior high school means a new school. And with my luck, none of my friends were at this new beginning of my life. Because my anxiety has grown since the beginning of 5th grade, I wasn’t excited on going to a new school to make new beginnings.…

On a warm, wishful week in August marked the beginning of a new school year for me in California. I had already been through one year of elementary school in this new state and now I was going to fourth grade. Elementary school is not the hardest experience for anyone to go through, but for me, it was the most traumatic and one week was all it took.…

I didn’t know if I would be able to finish the test or know how to answer the questions. We got to the cafeteria where we ate breakfast and talked about what we were going to do throughout the day. After about 15 minutes, we headed to our classroom and prepared for the test. This is when my heart started to race. My third grade teacher, Mr. Outley, told us that everything would be fine. He said that if we didn't finish the test, then we could do it after lunch. He handed every student a booklet and gave us the instructions for the day. Some students asked some questions, then we began the test. My head was pounding and I couldn't think straight, so I just sat there and stared at my…

In a book series entitled “I Survived” there was once a book written where a summary would sound ridiculous. This summary would be along the lines of, once there was a family of four including a father, mother, sister, and brother. The sister a mere six years old had been a genius in finance and accounting. Her brother, around eleven years older than her, had however not been a genius. The events of this book were as follows; first there was a family vacation with a hotel under construction, next an earthquake, after that an aftershock, consequently a fire in the hotel, following that a tsunami, and finally after two kids survive all of this they are reunited with their now somewhat useless parents. This book, even being an extreme exaggeration…

During the fall of my junior year at Cloverleaf High School, on a cool frosty morning, I was barely sitting through another history lesson with Mr. Farrar just gazing out the window like usual or maybe just engaging in a little day dreaming. I was trying so hard to not let my head hit the desk even though I rather be sleeping than listening to this teachers lecture. The teacher just kept going on and on about how world war one began or something similar to that which no one really cared for. Mr. Farrar, was also my baseball coach, would always harass me about doing well in class and finishing my work. But, it was only second period and my eye lids would still feel really heavy as I sat there wishing that it was lunch so that I could eat my lunch that my mom packed me. But, I could just tell that this day was…
