INTERPRETATION PROJECT 1
In the following paragraphs I will discuss the story Jesus was trying to tell and what the meaning to the readers is when these stories are put together. In our readings we know we have to look at the chapter to see what was happening. Here we see the meaning of what Jesus was doing at the time. So let us start in Matthew 24 is where we should begin.
In Matthew 24:3 “And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” (KJV) In this verse we see the meaning as to what he was discussing with the disciples at the Mount of Olives. Yes he used parables the three stories in all which have different meaning to the believers. But they all relate to the Second coming of
Christ!
In Matthew 24:43-45 we see the Lord describing the Coming of the Lord. He describes the day as a “thief coming in the night.” We get a warning from the Lord that we do not know the day when the Lord is Coming. He tells us to prepare and live expecting him to come in any hour.
The second or end of Matthew 24:46-51 We see another parable and again it talks of the Second
Coming. But this time the Lord talks about a faithful and an evil servant. The difference is thw faithful servant works diligently and is prepared for the Lord to come at any time. The evil servant is not prepared when the Lord does come. He like a thief is caught and the Lord describes the punishment for him for not being faithful at the time. This of course is after he has been judged by the Lord.
Then there is the story of the bridegrooms and the virgins waiting for a marriage at the weeding in Matthew 25:1-13. This is again the description of how we should be prepared for the Lords return. It tells how some of them are wise and some foolish in not preparing for the wedding.
The wise again are ready for the wedding.
