Southeastern Jet Airways (SEJA) philosophy and vision is very simple: to be a client-focused company. Armed with this philosophy, the team developed a strategy to guide and take SEJA beyond the next level and well into the future. SEJA’s vision which is to ensure that the organization remains an affordable transportation company, continues to build, remains strong to maintain customer loyalty by providing excellent customer service, and enhances shareholders’ value is a reflection of its mission. Such mission is to provide the highest quality transportation service while committed to excellence, safety, reliability, and efficiency, Intrinsic factors as those described above very seldom change the direction of an organization. However, on the other side of this equation is the basic framework where lies the strategy – the link between the firm (internal) and the industry (external) environment. Key factors that require a change in strategy could be found either in the firm (resources and capabilities, structure and systems changes or fluctuations) or the industry environment (competitors, customers, or suppliers) (Grant, 2013, Chapter 1).…

The British Airways (BA) Debacle occurred because the management team introduced a swipe card system which would allow management to use staff more efficiently and to record employees start and end time for each work day. This was a unilateral decision by BA to introduce the swipe card because the staff was not adequately consulted. (Palmer, Dunford, & Akin, Managing Organizational Change: A Multiple Perspectives Approach, 2008) As a result of the unilateral decision, BA’s employees went on a 24-hour strike which caused major problems for BA. BA had to cancel its services, which left 10,000 passengers stranded. It was apparent that there was a lack of change management. This paper will address ways in which the situation could have been avoided and ways to avoid repeating the same scenario.…

Southwest Airlines has been a cost leader in the airline industry with continuous growth and profits for the past 35 years. It has been the fourth largest domestic carrier with low priced routes and a no frills policy - free of in-flight meals and baggage transfers. The low cost fares, almost comparable to automobile transportation costs, have created both an unprecedented growth and new markets for this airline. Southwest was able to achieve this cost leadership by sticking to its strategy of exclusively selecting point-to-point high consumer demand routes as opposed to a traditional hub-and-spoke model of routing used by most large carriers. Also its routes operate between low traffic secondary airports to reduce the gate fee and congestion of the major airports. The airline only flies one type of aircraft, Boeing 737, to control maintenance, training and spare part costs. Southwest always emphasized caring for its employees by offering them company profit sharing, encouraging employee participation and creativity, and going with long-term union contracts. Southwest was the first to create an internet-based reservation system as opposed to using traditional travel agencies. Its reservation-less first come first serve seating allowed them to achieve a fast turnaround between the flight arrival and departure times, thus keeping the flights in the air for longer. Finally, Southwest executed aggressive fuel hedging to wither the continuous fuel price increases and thus lowering the operating fuel costs to be the lowest in the industry.…

“The world commercial airline industry is one of the most diverse, dynamic and perplexing in the world ” (Globale Airline Industry Program). The airports are exceptionally complex facilities and highly renowned for the variety of services and resources it provides to both the airlines and its users. Airlines and airports are inextricably intertwined together and none of them can survive without the other. The aviation industry is growing at an exponential rate. The demands for an effective and efficient ground handling system became the fundamental standards in successful aircraft operation and increase in airline image. The directives adopted by the 15 member states are divided into three general models, US, EU and third party models. In the US model airlines independently provide ground handling services to their airlines and manage airport terminals activities. In the other hand EU model, airports are heavily involved in ground handling services for airlines. The third party ground handling service is provided by other agencies usually contracted by airports along with supervision from airport operators. Even though contracting a third party into operation is in itself a challenge; operators have to make sure that those contracting agencies comply with ground handling standards and provide a top quality service continuously. Achieving those standards is one thing but when it comes to employment, operators have to either assume or take the necessary measures to insure handlers come with quality and an ideal price that would match their serviceability. Ground handling services are divided in to two major parts terminal services and airside services.…

    1. Ryanir is the airline company that would become Europe's most popular, and possibly most controversial one in the following years. Ireland’s Ryan family founded it in 1985. That year, Ryanair flew a single route, from Waterford, Ireland, to London in a small 15-seater aircraft. In the early years, Ryanair flew primarily between Ireland and the U.K. However two big shifts in the 1990s changed that. Firstly the European Union's "Open Skies" policies allowed, smaller airline companies like, Ryanair to compete in more markets. Secondly the Internet, which gave passengers the ability to compare fares online in the cosines of their homes in a better comprehensive manner, and stopped passengers blindness to alternatives. For most of the people it made the vacation a reality, opening up a new world of European day trips. From a new base at London's Stansted airport, Ryanair lands on major European cities solely using cities' secondary airports, where landing fees remain low and air-traffic delays are rare if not impossible. Ryanair today is a ‘’monster’’ of borderless Europe with its crowded population and vaguely defined political boundaries. But the airline's success is also a product of O'Leary's genius. The Dubliner joined Ryanair in 1988 and became chief executive in 1997. He is famous today mostly for his babbly tongue, but his real value is recognized worldwide since he managed to make small business into big player on the market.…

Capitalism's last evolved version: neo-liberalism is in the every corner of the world now. In this system, one of the most important, main subject is free trade. Some people think we shouldn't import. They say when we buy product, GNP can't improve. In other hand, some people say we should import. They think everybody should specialize in best product. Thus, products are getting more economic. However, I don't believe that we can't make a decision about what is import and export. It is very difficult to understand this topic because many firms contribute for one product's manufacturing. So, we can not say that is import and export because everbody needs everyone. There are some reasons lead people to import. These are techinical causes, entrepreneurial firm's causes and economic causes lead to import.…
