Itaque vocatis ad se undique mercatoribus,
Therefore after having called up to him the merchants from all parts,

neque quanta esset insulae magnitudo neither what was the size of the island

neque quae aut quantae nationes incolerent, nor what or how numerous were the nations which inhabited it,

neque quem usum belli haberent nor what system of war they followed

aut quibus institutis uterentur, nor what customs they used,

neque qui essent ad maiorem navium multitudinem idonei portus nor what harbors were convenient for a great number of large ships
