1.0 Facts Of The Case The incident happened on August 2nd, 1926, it was just before midnight. The collision were occurred between the French mail steamer named Lotus and Turkish collier named Boz-Kourt. The Lotus was on their way proceedings to Constantinople. The collision happened between five and six nautical miles to the north of Cape Sigri in Mitylene, not within territorial waters but on the high seas. The Boz-Kourt was cut into two, sank and eight persons, sailors and passengers were found drowned. The Lotus continued their way to Constantinople after having done everything they could to helped the shipwrecked person, ten of them were able to be saved.
