There has been a massive increase in the use of Facebook over the past few years and there is every indication that this will continue. The statistics generated by Facebook are impressive:
219 billion photos shared
2.7 billion ‘Likes’ – EVERY DAY!!!
1.18 trillion “likes
17 billion location check-ins
Median age of a Facebook user is 22 years
The social network was started by Mark Zuckerberg while he was at University in 2004. This social media website has been helpful in bringing in clients and prospects to companies and is a great tool for businesses and freelancers alike.
MARKETING RESEARCH FRAMEWORK:
PROBLEM DEFINITION:

Dependent Variable:
Number of weekly hours of Facebook usage of ABC students.
Independent variables:
Gender – to determine if gender has any impact on the usage of Facebook among ABC students
Likeability towards Social Networking- to determine if likeability towards Social Networking has any impact on the usage of Facebook among ABC students.
GPA – to determine if a Student’s GPA has any impact on the usage of Facebook among ABC students
Time since a student has joined Facebook: to determine if the time since a student has joined Facebook has any impact on the usage of Facebook among ABC students.
Number of Friends – to determine if number of friends on Facebook of a student have any impact on the usage of Facebook among ABC students
Past Experience – To determine if past experience with Facebook among ABC students has any impact on the usage of Facebook.
Purpose of usage – This is an Open Ended Question where Respondent will throw light on their purpose of using Facebook.
Personality Profile of users- To determine if the personality of a student has any impact on Facebook usage among ABC students
The other specific objectives of the study were:
To determine if each of the independent variables mentioned above have any influence on the dependent variables chosen for this study.

    This study is set to determine whether facebook can negatively affect students’ academic performance. A total of 50 men and female between ages of 17 to 28 years old were randomly selected to be the respondents of the study. A set of questionnaire were designed to gain primary data from the respondents about the causes of using facebook and respondent’s attitudes. The overall findings of the study shown that facebook does not have significant impact on CGPA because most of the respondents get CGPA above 3.00 and facebook does not affect their exam grades. In conclusions, some suggestions have been made to advise the respondents who addict to facebook, and to reduce the time of spending on their Facebook account. Besides that, the recommendations for future research have also been included in the final part of the report.…
