Using material requirements planning (MRP) manages production of the motor drive assembly. Using MS Excel solver for the optimization of aggregate production plan
1. Introduction
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) manages production planning and inventory for manufacturing. An MRP system can be used to ensure the availability of materials and products for production and customers, to maintain the lowest possible level of inventory, and to plan manufacturing activities, delivery schedules and purchasing activities.
2. Lab assignments
Week 10 (Oct 28):
- Using the product structure and bill of materials (BOM) of the motor drive assembly used in Project 1, including motor drive assembly, subassembly, and components.
The subassembly includes pneumatic shifting mechanism in TKF02M16A_ASM2, transmission in
TKF02M16A_ASM3,
dual motor assembly in TKF02M16A_ASM4, and output shaft in TKF02M16A_ASM1.
- It is assumed that the motor drive assembly will be delivered to the customer for weeks 9, 10, 11, 13, and 14, the corresponding units are 10, 20, 15, 20 and 25, respectively. The on-hand inventory, the scheduled receipts and the lead time for each item are shown in the following table.
- Develop the MRP order release plan for final assembly, four subassemblies and six components 27, 112, 119, 1, 4, and 120.
