What do the left and rights sides of the brain do? Which side of the brain does a police sketch artist use when creating a suspect sketch?…
IT’S HARD WORK, NOT TALENT In this article Annie Dillard shares her view on “what talent is?”. She believes that there is no such thing as talent instead she states that’s it is hard work, love and affection that makes something successful. Dillard discusses hard work and love for something can lead you into doing extraordinary. Like when a man saves a child by lifting up a car, but that does not mean he has talent, instead it was his love toward children that gave him power to do so.…
The exceptionally creative may need a different approach when it comes to their development. The gifted need to be treated with patience and given room to grow their talents. In My Name is Asher Lev, Asher’s parents are not very supportive of his gifts. His mother is the more supportive of the two. She can relate to Asher’s problem of wanting to grow in his art and the communities disapproval. She even buys him paint at one point and takes him to an art museum. When he asks his mother questions that she fears may corrupt his Jewish faith she can no longer accept his gifts in front of his father. Eventually she supports him by saying, “You and your father are two different natures. There is nothing to be done about it, Asher Lev...Do not try to understand, Become a great artist. That is the only way to justify what you are doing to everyone's life.”(Potok) In school, a place that should be a refuge of learning and peace Asher's Headmaster remarks “Many people feel they are in possession of a great gift when they are young. But one does not always have to give in to a gift. One does with a life not only what is precious to one's self, but to one's own people. That is the way our people live...”(Potok) This notion that a gift should be ignored for a civic responsibility is incredibly ignorant and short sided. The headmaster has no idea the incredible things…
Everyone has their talents, whether it be drawing, writing, or playing a sport. No one was born with these abilities. To get to where they are now, they would have had to work. Like Doodle from The Scarlet Ibis, Waverly from Rules of the Game, or even Isaiah Bird. They all worked to be the best at what they do. Therefore abilities are not predetermined and that people do have control over them.…
Art is somewhat apart of life. It gives individuals away to be creative in their own way.…
Are you the same person as when you were four? I am going to tell you what nature vs nurture is in my following statement. In nature you believe that your personality was formed by genetics and not by parenting. Nurture believes that parenting formed who you are not your genetics. My third paragraph is about twins and how they are alike by nature. My fourth paragraph is about your personality and how it forms and works. My fifth paragraph is about the studies on diseases and how they harm you, and the way you live. I believe in most cases that nature forms your personality.…
Writing is generally considered a creative "right-brain" activity. However, you don't have to turn off the left-half of your brain to be a writer.…
One brain two sides; the left brain analysis breaking information into parts and about 95% of people use the left brain to speak, write, and understand. This includes, time sense movements and rhythm. The right side of the brain processes information by using nonverbal responses such as, pointing at objects, simple language comprehension, recognition of pattern and most of all recognizing and expressing of emotion.…
“It is widely believed that the left hemisphere has exclusive control over language and the right hemisphere has exclusive control over emotion and creativity” (Pinel, 2009, p. 411). However, research indicates language functions have substantial activity in the left and right hemispheres of the brain (Pinel, 2009). Cerebral lateralization research has several methods help gain better understanding of the functions of the brain.…
“Skills come and go… Art is always the same: a transposition of nature that requests as much will as sensitivity.” This quote by Claude Monet displays one of his many opinions on the craft. He believed that an artist had to have a painting in his head before starting, and was sure of the way he was going to execute it. Other than that, however, there was not much to understand. All else that art required of a person was to love. As arguably the most famous impressionist, Monet’s opinion is popular in the artistic community. His words were not always revered, or even well known, as his career did not take hold until around 1865. His prior…

When discussing art it has continuously been examined how much it is applied to human nature. In The Art Instinct by Denis Dutton he spend an entire chapter discussing the colorations between the two. In the chapter 1 of the whole new mind the author explain his theory on the two sides of the people of the world brains. Everyone knows you have a left side and a right side of your brain, and each side is for different reasons. Now in this book he wants you to know about the whole brain in chapter one he goes on to tell you that about each side and how it works through his words and facts and information he has found. The whole brain itself is for, leading you to happiness, good health, and have a successful life. Throughout your brain that is where both sides work together as a whole. So on the left side is for your brain is the thinking part of and the functional, textual, literal side. The right side of the brain is for simultances, and metaphorical, aesthetic contextual and synthetic side of the brain. This means the left side is the drive the willing to be something in life. Right side of the brain is not so much into being in the professional part of the working together with its left side partner it rather just do what eve comes to mind.…
Creativity is achieved through unusual mental and physical action. In addition, some actions are more likely to be considered art, for example painting a portrait with a brush is mostly understood as a product of art, whilst painting walls is only a form of labor. Therefore, creativity can also be limited through language, because this differentiation is always present in a creator's…
There are two halves to the human brain, called hemispheres. The left side of the brain controls the right side of your body, and the right side controls the left side of your body. The left side of the brain also has the control of the ability to speak and communicate using language. The right side has more artistic abilities, such as spatial relationships. Some people believe that the halves may be two completely different mental systems. The two halves of the brain are connected by the corpus callosum; a structure of about two hundred million nerve fibers called. If the corpus callosum is cut then the two halves of the brain have no way of communication, and must operate independently.…
