In today’s society, sports are to be one of the fastest growing entertainment projects around the world. It brings the world together and different cultures and traditions. Everyone unites together and just have a marvelous time together. However, in some cases, sports can have a negative impact towards human race and athletes themselves.
The National Basketball Association (NBA), is a men’s professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world.
To start off basic background information, it has 30 franchises, which only contains 1 Canadian team.
The NBA is one of the 4 major North American profession sport leagues. All NBA players are paid according to the skill level in basketball.
Moving forward, in recent months there has been a case regarding Donald Sterling who has negatively impacted the NBA. It is an ethical issue which has obstructed the players of NBA, the owners, general managers and the fans. An ethical issue is essentially judging something to some degree, if it is right or wrong.
On April 25, 2014, TMZ Sports released a recording of a conversation between Sterling and a female friend, V. Stiviano. Donald Sterling is the owner of the LA Clippers franchise who made disturbing alleged comments towards the players of the NBA. He specifically focused on the black race and read “He does not want black players to play in the NBA”. This issue was taken to the next level, where many NBA players spoke out about this issue. For instance, LeBron James of the Miami Heat reported, "There's no room for Donald Sterling in the NBA." He said he will not play in the league, the following year if Donald Sterling is still in business. All NBA teams came as one and raised awareness of this issue.
