Introdução

Este trabalho tem como objectivo apresentar os conceitos essenciais e as técnicas adoptadas por um sistema eficiente de Yield Management e a sua importância na gestão da capacidade e na receita do transporte aéreo.

Será apresentado um modelo estrutural para a implementação de um programa de Yield Management, assim como um resumo dos benefícios gerados pelo Yield Management e como alcançá-los.

1. Conceitos essenciais do Yield Management

O Yield Management baseia-se na lei da oferta e da procura em que se gerem dois elementos:

- O inventário dos produtos (capacidade de serviço disponível, como quartos de hotel, lugares de avião ou campos de golf);

- A estrutura dos preços (ou de forma equivalente, dos descontos).

A bibliografia que trata a problemática do Yield Management mostra-nos diversas abordagens e definições sobre o tema em questão, dadas por diversos autores, especialistas em diversos tipos de indústrias que podem utilizar as técnicas do Yield Management.
