The rotation transformation is where you turn a figure about a given point. The point that the obtated about can be inside the figure or anywhere outside it. The amount of rotation is called the angle of rotation and is measured in degrees. You can rotate shapes or figures on a coordinate grid. Each quadrant differs in degrees when working with rotations. Going clockwise the first quadrant is 90 degrees , the second quadrant is 180 degrees, the third quadrant is 270 degrees, and last but not least the fourth quadrant 360 degrees. When rotating counter clockwise on a coordinate grid the quadrant degrees are the same just in different quadrants. Unless the problem gives you a fixed point to rotate around, when working with coordinate grids, the orgin will be your fixed point. The orgin is written as (0,0) because it is located at the zero point on the x-axis and y-axis. My example of a rotation in the real world is a fan. The blades of the fan rotate about the center of the motor in a 360 degree movement.…

When it came time for the Phi theta Kappa honor society to elect new officers, I could not wait for my chance to run. Since I had served as an editor and photographer for my high school yearbook staff, I was confident in my abilities to serve as historian. My duties included taking pictures at every chapter event, updating social media pages, and contributing to any other endeavor my chapter proceeded with. I made sure to capture the social aspects of being a part of the Phi Theta at every event that took place. I was present at every ceremony, membership drive, conference and convention my chapter attended. I also worked very closely with faculty advisers to every week through officer, and general meetings to make sure that our chapter’s…

Is this more than usual? If so, why? This is a lot more than I usually read during the school year. Throughout my High School career i lost touch with the enjoyment of reading and tended to focus on sports, extracurricular activities and school work. With the lack of practice it soon became very difficult for me to even read a book that was assigned due to the fact that i thought reading was “boring” This quarter of my senior year is indeed very different for me. I have learned that a lot of time living in a book's reality is a stress reliever for me, and i've become to really enjoy the…

"Geometry," meaning "measuring the earth," is the branch of math that has to do with spatial relationships. In other words, geometry is a type of math used to measure things that are impossible to measure with devices. For example, no one has been able take a tape measure around the earth, yet we are pretty confident that the circumference of the planet at the equator is 40,075.036 kilometres (24,901.473 miles) . How do we know that? The first known case of calculating the distance around the earth was done by Eratosthenes around 240 BCE. What tools do you think current scientists might use to measure the size of planets? The answer is geometry.…
