Patriotism in India Essay Example
Patriotism in India
By patriotism we mean genuine love for one's own country. Patriotism must not be misinterpreted as one's hatred for other countries. If one loves his own country and hates other countries, then it is nationalism rather than patriotism.
Mother and the motherland are superior to the heaven. We do never lose our honour for our mother even if she does not love us. Similarly we respect our country in all situations. We are indebted to our motherland where we are born and brought up. It is our moral duty to keep her head high.
Patriotism is a virtue which can be expressed in different ways. A true patriot tries to do something for the development of his country.
When Abraham Lincoln was a child he noticed the misery of the slaves in America. He liked America but did not like the slavery system. So when he became the President of America he abolished the ugly system and established democracy.
Thus, he did some noble thing to keep up the prestige of his country. So he is a true patriot. India is also proud of being the motherland of great patriots like Rana Pratap, Shivaji, M.K.Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose. History is full of praise for these figures. They dedicated themselves to the cause of their dear motherland. M.K.Gandhi gave up his personal interest and struggled for the interest of our country. Nelson Mandela of South Africa is also a true patriot.
A patriot is different from a politician. A politician shows no genuine love for any idea or for his country. Of course, patriots often indulge in politics. But they do not play dirty politics.
Today, many touts and politicians claim that they are patriots. But in their activities they are antinational. They give secret shelter to terrorists. Their main aim is to reap some selfish gain for themselves. A true patriot never advertises. Patriotism is much different from

Patriotism symbolizes the grave devotion, pride, loyalty, and love one shows for his or her’s country. It’s not just about igniting fireworks or having cookouts; it should be expressed each and every day we stand on our country’s grounds. In the passage John Mccain wrote, Mccain mentions about his friend Mike sowing on the American flag again on the inside of his shirt, because he knew it was important to everyone there with him. That shows so much pride he has for America. Mike didn’t care if he was beaten for disobeying the Vietnamese because he refuses to let his country down, and would probably take another beating just for the same reason. In current day America, a lot of Americans are retaliating against their country. There is a lot…

Nationalism is from the people. Patriotism is the act of one individual for their country. When given these two points, we can clearly believe that one is part of the other. Faith within the nationalism can cause things like hatred within the nations, like the quote from the source; “Nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first.” When nationalism is one’s identity, and a part of one’s nation, the way an individual thinks about other countries, becomes the way they treat the other countries. Even though nationalism is an aspiration common to the whole of a nation, patriotism is the devoted love, support, and defence of one’s country/nation. The way one individual acts can either be patriotic, or nationalistic. Even stronger than nationalism, is the ability to prevail. This ability is often associated with patriotism. One should embrace the perspective on nationalism reflected in “Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first” as it applies to the First World War in 1914.…

Patriotism can be compared to the structure of a building. It keeps the building standing tall and strong. Without it the building would crumble. When we think of patriotism we think of America. Patriotism is a love and devotion to one's country, so it is not limited to only America. Marquis de La Fayette was a French patriot who served as a general for France yet received no pay. I believe that a patriot is someone who loves and does good for there country. They don't have to fight in any battles or save any lives all they have to do is love their country. I have learned about many patriots this year and the many years i've been at school but the first person i think about when someone says patriot is Harriet Tubman she did it all. She made a really big impact on the fight against slavery. Harriet had so many opportunities to live her life as a slave without putting her life in danger but she refused to not do anything about it and she took action. Most women in her day wouldn't even dare pulling any stunts like she did. Even though she knew the risks of helping runaway slaves she continued to do it. She was so good at helping runaway slaves escape on the underground railroad that she had a bounty on her head.…
