Introduction
Perception is the process by which individuals selects, organizes, and interprets information inputs to create a meaningful picture of the world. Different people perceive the world differently. The following report will seek to evaluate the perceptions of three individuals who took part in a survey. The following research report, involved the compiling of a survey, which was distributed to survey participants, and the findings were then analyzed. The report will firstly start by discussing the survey participants’ view of handicapped people. It will secondly discuss the survey participants’ view of ex-convicts. Society’s perception of handicapped people
Firstly, we will start this report by discussing the survey participants’ view of handicapped people. Since the beginning of time, people with disabilities were shunned, killed, considered an embarrassment, lock away, hidden away, and sometimes even worse. This attitude slowly started changing in the past 60 years. With these changes, came groups and acts to help inform the public and support the disabled and their families. The writer is going to describe how perception has changed, how legislation and litigation have influenced the education of special needs students, a prediction of what changes may occur in special education in the future, the writer’s initial response to an individual with disability, and how the writer’s response is different now.…

According to Nora Groce, a medical anthropologist, cultures view disabilities in three ways: by its cause, by its effect on valued attributes, and by the status of the disabled person as an adult. Some cultures belief that disabilities are due to witchcraft, reincarnation, or divine displeasure. In China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan cultures, individuals with a disability are viewed as a punishment. Often, families are denied access to education, health programs, and are treated poorly among professionals, and in their communities. However, Latino and Botswana cultures see individuals with disabilities as a “gift from God.” Families and individuals are accepted and cared for by the whole community. Another aspect of how individuals with disabilities and their families are treated is depended on what attributes each culture values. If cultures value the ability to speak eloquently and persuasively in public, a person with a communication disorder will at a greater disadvantage. If intelligence is valued, an individual with a physical impairment will not be seen as having disabilities and is accepted more than an individual with a cognitive disability. The last aspect is the status of the disabled person as an adult. Can the hold a job? What job will be available to them? In many cultures, this is where many individuals with disabilities and families struggle. Social attitudes have a strong impact on discrimination within different…

We got rid of our cable about a month ago in an attempt to watch less TV. What I've learned is that you don't really need a TV service. We can watch most of our favorite shows online for free and, of course, we have Netflix to take up hours upon hours of our time. We've tried not to watch too much TV, but this past weekend I found a show called 13 Reasons Why and became interested in the plot about a woman who takes her own life and then describes the 13 reasons why she does so. I'm on episode 12 out of 13, but for the last few episodes, I've been struck by an important message that I keep thinking about. There is a slight spoiler from an episode that I'm going to talk about, so if you don't like spoilers, you won't want to keep reading.…

Selective perception - it is a distance given to drive by car. Every person, who would do that, would notice different buildings, signs, posters and etc. We cannot notice everything, because our brain cannot receive that much information. So we concentrate on safe driving, and notice only those things, that we like: the dreamer will be looking at clouds perhaps, the advertising manager will be analysing new posters that competitors made, the old man will be looking at every road sign in order to comply with road rules. We see world different, because we all are different.…

As stated above, an organisation is formed and run by different people together instead of an individual on its own. Therefore, it is understandable that managers in organisations will always go through a process, which is searching the right person to play a specific role and work in the organisation. In fact, the decisions that the managers made to hire an applicant to work in the organisation invovle the factors of selective perception. It is necessary for the managers (the interviewer) to selectively perceive someone during the hiring process. This is because different positons in the organisation will require different skills. The selective perception process can help the managers to screen out the others and employ the applicants with the specific skill. It would be impossible to hire the right person if the managers never selectively perceive on the applicants skills base on the specific skills and characters needed for the position. In this situation, selective perception runs a positive role during the process because it helps the managers to pick up the right applicants with the right skills and personality and thus improve the efficiency of the recruitment process and also the organisation.…
