Performance appraisal is considered to be an essential element of human resource management (HRM). Benefits of performance appraisal comprise improvement of communication amid the employees along with the management, encouragement of team work and greater ability of decision-making (Bigelow, 2013).
Optimal Results of a Well-Prepared and Well-Delivered Performance Appraisal
The optimal results of a well-prepared and a well-delivered performance appraisal can be measured by focusing upon three particular dimensions. These dimensions comprise determination of performance problems, measurement of work performance and management ok workforce performances (Cltlowry, 2012).

Pre Appraisal Activities
The pre-appraisal activities performance appraisal comprises of various functions that signifies planning, reviewing of appraisal done previously, standards of work, system communication and process documentation of process. The above mentioned functions assist both the employees along with the different organization to execute their business on an effective manner. It can also be stated that the aforementioned functions are conducted by the organizations for the purpose of fulfilling their predetermined business targets by a greater level (SlideShare Inc., 2013).
Post Appraisal Activities include implementation of plan for improving the process. Moreover, in this period, managers keep records of performance of employees on a regular basis. It can be stated that with conducting informal observations, managers are capable of reviewing the progress of employees’ performance. One of the activities of post appraisal activities can be identified as face to face discussion amid employees and managers concerning the performance of employees (Spaulding, 2013).
