When I was eleven years old I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I had a hard time coping with the changes in my mood. Part of my healing process consisted of trying many different medications, therapies, and developing the desire to heal. During this time, friends I had for many years pushed me away, and although I felt alone and confused at times, I came out thriving. Bipolar Disorder is a mood disorder thought to be caused by chemical imbalances in the brain that can result in extreme swings in mood—from manic highs to depressive lows. To be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, you must have experienced a high period (mania). Bipolar mania is described as an “extreme high,” or feeling unusually great. Most people with bipolar disorder when ill or when symptomatic experience more lows than highs. Unfortunately, the lows I experienced were so extreme that the friends I thought would be by my side through anything chose to follow other kids and use my disorder to bully me creating deeper depression. Initially, I felt stigmatized by my diagnosis. Most people I encountered either didn’t know what bipolar was or how to interact with someone suffering with the disorder. Teachers, peers, and family members had a hard time knowing what to say or how to act around me. I started to feel like I was no longer my own person but just one big disaster and my mood swings became even more extreme as a result. Eventually, I grew tired of feeling sorry for myself and began my quest for the right medication, vitamins, nutrition, psychological and spiritual health and wellbeing. I found my inner strength and courage. I put my energy into school, new friendships and family and started…

I am ready to start a new chapter in my life and to take the next step to becoming a Registered Nurse. I have worked for the NHS for over 3 years now, and have been a Health Care Assistant for 16 months. Prior to this I worked as an Ambulance Care Assistant for East Midlands Ambulance Service. I have had experience in patient care from washing, bathing, monitoring vital signs, and working both in the community and in a hospital setting. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team has helped me effectively care for my patients and developed my communication skills in working with other NHS professionals. One of the most satisfying parts of my job now, and in my previous role is the direct patient contact. Developing trusting relationships and listening to them is very rewarding and helps me to get to know my patients, show empathy and maintain their dignity. I am used to shift working, working 7 days a week with various shift patterns, so this side of the role will not faze me.…

I came to Kelley School of Business because I want to build a solid foundation that I could depend on and further enhance in the future. With putting hard work in academics and career development throughout my years of study at IUschool, an IT Advisory full-time job offer from EY was extended to me after my three-month internship this summer. It seemed like I reached the goal I always wanted. A: a career that I am passionate about could start in one year when I graduate. This might be the ultimate goal of many people who enter college in hope of finding a job that’ll feed them when they complete this four-year-education,The life is perfect for many people at this point, but I realized that all I longed for and achieved is no longer all I want. After my internship, as I was given high ratings by all team managers I worked with, I understand that it will takes more effort and expertise for me to excel among my peers. I believe that participating in MSIS program is essential to my career development. My undergraduate study prepared me well for the real world, but I believe that MSIS program’s challenging curriculum, with MBA Electives, strategic learning, and experiential learning, would provide me with the specific skillset and mindset I need to stand out from my co-works and explore more career paths.…

I aspire to become a social worker specialising in children and young people; I have always been interested in social work as I enjoy working with people and would like to support those going through difficulties. The biggest influences for me wanting to do this came from personal experience as I witnessed how effective social work can be in relation to adoption, and also recent failed child protection cases in the media such as Khyra Ishaq and Victoria Climbié. Such cases have influenced me to do this as I would like to improve the quality of people’s lives and ensure they are being cared for and looked after properly. I believe I am suited to do this as I have a naturally caring nature and I am able to support others through problems with an empathetic approach.…
