Imagine this, you are watching Law and Order SVU and the detectives on the show are interviewing a suspect. The main goal of the detectives is to find the guilty person. They might not see point of view of the suspect, which could affect their case. Seeing different points of views helps put you in the other persons shoes, this can also explain why people do the things they do. Seeing people’s points of views can decides how others are viewed as a person. If people only looked at things from their perspective, they will seem selfish and nonearning. As humans we want people to be supportive, so when a person does not see or try to understand someone’s point of view, people will start to drift away because of the attitude. When you do not see others view you say things that might offend others and make them unwelcomed. To understand others you need to be empathetic. For example if your friend did something to upset you and they are truly sorry and have an explanation for the event, you should try to show empathy. This is extremely important because it gives another view on things. Try to understand why they did what they did. Doing this will make you feel better about the situation. When you look at different situations from others points of views you get a new perspective on things. For example if your class is reading a book and your teacher wants you to explain why a character did something in the book, for the most part you are going to get a different answer from everyone. Everyone has different opinions on things because we all view things differently. If we not view things differently persuasive essays and newspaper columns would not include opinions.
