It is an honor for me to congratulate the Philippine National Police for it’s newly published “Compendium of Six Operational Master Plans”, that shall serve as a guiding tool of the organization to achieve its vision, mission and goals. This compendium will surely help all PNP uniformed personnel to fully understand and effectively implement the various operational plans designed to address major threats to criminality, safety and security. It’s timely publication is an indication of the PNP’s sincere effort to truly make our country a safe place to live, work and do business in. In behalf of the DILG family, I commend the Chief, PNP and his staff most especially the Directorate for Operations for the efforts they exerted in making the publication of this compendium a reality.

As such, the roles and functions of police organizations will be identified along with their role as it applies to the law. There are various types of police agencies ranging from the local to federal level which will also be described. Finally, the specific role and function of patrol work will be explained.…

Law enforcement is one of the most dynamic social fields in the world. Police tactics and strategies are constantly changing to meet the needs of the communities that they serve, large and small alike. New strategies are implemented in hopes of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of police. One such strategy was introduced in 1979 by Herman Goldstein (Clark, 2003). Goldstein’s idea revolved around identifying a specific problem, implementing case specific solutions to that issue, and analyzing the effect that the interventions had on the original problem.…

Police corruption has always been a problem in American society and it happens everywhere. According to the book Criminal Justice A Brief Introduction, “Police Corruption is the abuse of police authority for personal or organizational gain.” An example of police corruption can be when, a police officer pulls you over and he comes up to you and asks you for money instead of actually giving you the ticket of whatever he pulled you over for. Police will take bribes, drugs, and anything else that is illegal. Police corruption is most likely to happen where there is least scrutiny amongst the officers. Since they are not going to be searched/examined, then they will go and doing what they want and bring in anything they want since their job won’t be put on the line for their actions.…
