Premier League
Good morning fellow devotees of football and welcome to another instalment of Football Focus. We have witnessed some electrifying football in the past two decades in the Barclays Premier League but this season tops the lot. In this latest chapter we will review what has been going on in England’s top flight as hearts were broken as well as records, controversies taking place and much more. ‘Best league in the world’, the Barclays Premier League. We have seen the highs and lows of this season. From Manchester City’s triumphant title win all the way to David Moyes’ record breaking season. Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City were all expected to challenge for the title and no one disappointed. Arsenal played breath-taking football throughout the season with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Carzola, Aaron Ramsey and more ripping teams’ defence apart. However, Arsene Wenger and Co. could not produce the performances throughout the second half of the season which led to their downfall and left them no choice but to hang on to a Champions League spot in 4th place (no surprise there!). Some may say their failure to win the Premier League was down to the heavy defeats by their fierce title rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in which they were thrashed 5-1, 6-0 and 6-3 respectively. On the positive side of things, Arsenal was given the opportunity to open their trophy cabinet once again. After a trophy-less nine campaigns, they had a chance to win the FA Cup and they did not disappoint. After a dramatic 3-2 win against Hull City, with Aaron Ramsey, undoubtedly the driving force in the Arsenal side throughout the season, scoring an extra-time winner with an instinctive strike that was a rocket flying into the back of the net, Arsenal could finally move on from what was almost a decade of disappointment.
‘The Special One’ AKA Jose Mourinho returned to his beloved Chelsea after leaving 6 years ago as they finished without a trophy in this season’s
