Process Design for Riordan Manufacturing, China The Riordan Manufacturing Plant in Hangzhou, China as part of their relocation effort, have undertaken an intense operation to modernize and upgrade the manufacturing process for the electric fans. An analysis of the manufacturing processes indicated roadblocks and loopholes in the system affecting the quality, timing inventory, and the production procedures. The proposed overhaul will address the malfunctions and a revised electric fan production plan. Implementing a new MRP II System will allow for enhance forecasting as well as a more integrated supply chain with all the company components.
The MRP for the manufacturing of the Riordan electric fans Riordan Manufacturing receives a yearly estimate of orders with customer-defined specifications. When implemented, the new MRP II Systems will determine how much and when to manufacture the specific electric fans required to satisfy or exceed the customers’ expectations. The system calculates the time needed to receive the materials used to produce the fans, the time needed to manufacture them, the required date the fans are needed, and will ensure that this deadline will be met without problems or delays.
A new process design for the production of the Riordan electric fans To accomplish Riordan Manufacturing’s customer commitment of providing outstanding products and services, a new process design is required in the China manufacturing facilities. The attached process flow document provides the proposed design process improvements that will take the new relocated plant to another level of production and coordination. Critical questions asked in each department defined the improved efficiencies and simplified the processes. Implementing a just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing using a Kanban
