Label the different sections by filling in the blanks on the visual cortex diagram, and answer the following questions in a minimum of 50 words each.

1. What are the functions in visual processing of each of the major structures identified on the diagram? Include a brief summary of each function in your response. the function of the visual processing of the optical nerve is that it supply the sensory ability of the eye to take possession of the light that is around. basically it detects light. optical chiasm allows information from the optical nerve. it is also where the information from both eyes crosses over the brain. that allows the information that is going through the eyes to be processed. the optical tract is made up of two tracts the left optical tract and the right. the right optical tract sends information to the left side and vise versa for the other side. Lateral geniculate nucleus primary is the processing center for the visual information that which is received from the retina of the eye. Superior colliculus is a visual reflex center

2. What is an example of a visual deficit associated with brain damage, disorder, or disease affecting the visual pathway? Provide a description of where the damage may occur and what functional visual deficits may arise. when the brain is affected in certain areas it can also have some type of affect on some of our senses and this might include the eyes, some visual deficit might be losing eye sight, haveing blind spot in certain areas. in some part of the brain including the left side the right eye might be compromised and if the right side of the brain is affect the left eye might be affected. if the optical nerve is damaged or cut eye sight is lost to that certain eye.
