trephining- holes cut in sides of skull. many anthropologists think the trephen holes were created in an effort to let spirits escape with the holes. people lived after the holes were drilled... bone growths alongside.

melancholic- sad sanguine person- stem word comes from blood. cheerful person. too much blood in the system is over cheerful or manic. phlegmatic- excess of phlegm.
