I. Attention Getter: The Red hot Chili Peppers are more than just your average band. Currently they have won six Grammy awards and sold over 55 million albums worldwide.
II. Preview: Tonight I am going to explain briefly the history, techniques, accomplishments, and their current activity.

I. History of the Red Hot Chili Peppers A. The Bands Beginning
1. Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem a. The band started not as The Red Hot Chili Peppers but as the band called Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem (or Tony Flow and MMMM’s). b. Four students: Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Michael “Flea” Balzary (bass), Hillel Slovak (guitar), and Jack Irons (drums) of California’s Fairfax High School started the band.
2. The Red Hot Chili Peppers
a. Band members Slovak and Irons were committed to another band called “What is this?” but after their first show in Los Angeles, the band had an unexpected success and further changed it’s name to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
b. When Slovak and Irons decided to continue with the band “What is this?” Kiedis and Flea decided to recruit two new members: Cliff Martinez and Jack Sherman.
c. With the bands new members they ended up landing a deal with the record label EMI to produce the bands self-titled debut album.
B. Controversy and the return/departure once again of Slovak and Hillel
1. After the first album bombed, Slovak and Irons decided to return to the group.
a. Upon return of the two members, The Chili Peppers produced their next album labeled “Freaky Styley”.
