18 October 2010 Religion Vs Science In many aspects of life, science and religion are shown to disagree with each other; Science focuses on logic and reason while religion relies solely on faith and the belief of a higher power. Both have advantages as well as disadvantages. Some advantages and disadvantages of religion are that you obtain eternal life, spiritual support and guidance, and be a better person through morals and values. With these advantages come discrimination, confusion, and sin luring you away from God. The advantages of science are better technology, more advancements and inventions, but the disadvantages are it leads to sin, physical laziness, addiction, and misuse. Religion is a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. Religion is focused on faith in a higher power, and does not need a proven explanation. They follow the saying in 2 Corinthians 5:1 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” There are many advantages of religion, but the main one focused upon by followers is eternal life. Eternal life is God’s promise to his believers that anyone who followers Him and accepts Him into their hearts shall dwell in His kingdom forever. John 3:16 in the New King James Bible states “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Religion not only gives you everlasting life, but also gives you spiritual support and guidance. Religion allows you to have God as your rock and stronghold in your life. Whenever you need someone to talk to and guide you, God is only a prayer away. God will always love you unconditionally and lead you on the right path. Having God in your life to guide you helps you become a better person overall by setting higher morals and values to live by. But through all the advantages and positives of having a religion and God comes many flaws and disadvantages.
