There is, of course, a warrantably comfortable feeling in being on the right side of the country’s professed ideals. We realize that we cannot be undone without America’s undoing. David Isaacs said “let children be children,” is a good way to understand the concept of a child’s life and that their fate is to be set free and have no care in the world. This is taken too lightly when parents realize that they could earn money for their child winning a pageant. The only desire for a child to become interested in saying no is if they really had the education of what is about to happen to them. Taking this sort of opportunity away from a child could potentially save their lives, and their emotional…

"Jazz dance mirrors the social history of the American people, reflecting ethnic influences, historical events, and cultural changes" (Kraines, 2005,1). When I was younger I used to take dance. I hated ballet, liked gymnastics, and thought tap was okay; but I loved jazz. I took jazz dance three times a week and never complained; it was my life. People all over the world are familiar with jazz dance. Jazz dance is found in almost every form of dance; even the Las Vegas showgirls are jazz dancers in some form. This style in dancing is full of energy and life as well as a lot of fun. Jazz dance has a lot of historical significance and the movements are unique to the form.…

As shown above there is significant support for why the practice of rewarding all participants should be eliminated. Children in their minds realize when they truly deserve a reward for what they have done. Presenting undeserving children awards will not help them with their future and it negatively impacts those who deserve them by demotivating them to excel above others. Society needs to change this before children believe it is acceptable to always be like everyone…

This dance consisted of three men; all of them break dancers and krumpers, they formed a hip-hop number that made everyone stand up for applaud at the end. They all had different styles and show cased one another’s talents. The different moves they did defied gravity. From standing on their head and sliding, to jumping over one another. This dance was mainly displaying what each dancer could do. The different tricks they could do really impressed me, having know idea how they can do some of the stuff they do without breaking their necks. They all used the stage and definitely moved around frequently. It was an entertaining piece that made the audience pumped. They popped and locked everything on the base of the music, which made their movements look bigger. They worked together to pull off some surprising tricks like throwing one six feet in the air and were careful when they all jumped over each other at the same time. Their costumes were normal street clothes, which is appropriate for a hip-hop number. The sound was loud, had a high base, and could feel the vibrations under my seat, which makes the dance more exciting. They used many different colored lights on the stage and many visual effects were used, it was a crazy dance that matched the tricks they…

Attending the Spring Dance concert was a fun learning experience. I am glad that this was a required assignment for this dance class because if it was not required I am sure I would not have attended . The variety of dances have taught me different things, and one of them is that you do not have to do complex moves in order to dance. The dance I have decided to write about is Voicing Acceptance choreographed my Nancy Sorensen. There are many reasons why I have chosen to do my paper on this specific dance. I will discuss how the sound or movement, lighting, movement and females/males contribute to the overall success of the dance piece.…

Just as ragtime, jazz, R&B, and other black music forms entered mainstream culture earlier in the century, today it is hip hop culture and its distinctive sound of rap music that is becoming an important form of music and cultural style across the globe. Hip hop erupted from New York dance and party culture of the 1970s. Writing lyrics, producing beats, break-dancing, and graffiti art were the original legs to rap music. Now, with dance and performance, visual art, multimedia, fashion and attitude, hip hop is the music and style for the new millennium. Despite…
