The Sciences: Inquiry, Innovation and Invention
I don’t feel that the position of celestial objects at the moment of our birth have an effect on our characters, .lives or destinies. Life is what you make it. We control our own destinies. If I do not like something it is my responsibility to change it. Many people believe that because you are born during a certain time of the year that you are programmed to act like the zodiac sign that falls under your birth month and birth date. You have a belief that the astrological signs have an important part of your life. I believe that astrological signs are life superstitions. Astrology readings are in the newspaper, on the internet, on menus at oriental restaurants. I wonder if astrology horoscopes were not all over the place how likely would it be that half of America would continue to believe.
Scientific methods are important to invention and innovation because it is the proven way we have that an assumption is correct. Without testing using a scientific method we have no way of knowing if the invention works or how safe it is. It is what we use to investigate an invention or to see how innovative something really is.
Astrology fails to conform to the scientific method because it has not been tested or proven to be true. There has not been scientific research to prove without a doubt that astrology works. In order for it to conform to a scientific method you have to have proof that it works. There have been studies done but they have only been about 50% accurate.
After my research on astrology I would interpret this line from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (1599): "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, But in ourselves...'' (Act 1, Scene 2). This refers back to my first paragraph that you cannot blame someone or something for how are person behaves. It is easy to say that a person has a bad temper because they are a certain sign. That is placing blame
