Snapshot (First Day at Primary School) Essay Example
My snapshot is of my first day at primary school. Why did I choose this picture? Well, because it was a totally new experience for me, essentially different to my first day at primary school because I had only been to nursery before. There were a lot of things going through my mind when this was taken. I was experiencing emotions such as excitement, curiosity and anxiety, Excitement because I was looking forward to going to school, wearing my new uniform, meeting my teachers, talking to people, maybe even making a friend or two. I would have been curious because going to school would mean a new environment, a new routine, and most importantly, new people. All of which I was completely unfamiliar with. This leads on to my next emotion, anxiety, because you're bound to be anxious when you don't know how to behave in that situation, how to act towards people and how they will act towards to you. It gives you that feeling in your chest, you know the one, you get it when you're feeling extremely worried yet mildly excited about what is going to happen. Almost like going on an adventure! I can tell this was an embarrassing moment for me, because I have my usual smile on! It's that cheesy smile I always have whenever I'm shy or embarrassed; the smile itself is embarrassing to be honest. This picture really does bring up some memories though, I remember it like it was yesterday, as overused as that phrase is. It was a bright sunny day, which isn't very common in this country, but nonetheless, no complaints either. I stepped out of my mum's shiny, blue BMW as she wished me luck. I forced up a weak smile before closing the door. I walked up the steps which seemed giant, as my heart was pounding…and I was a lot smaller back then too. I walked through the scarily huge playground, most of the other children were in groups, laughing and playing. How much I wished I could have been one of those children at that very moment in time.
It was as if everything had frozen,

The philosopher, Rudolph Steiner (1861 -1925) founded the Waldorf School after the First World War (1918). The seed of his approach started at this school where he emphasised the importance of developing the child’s imagination and the creative ability. The Steiner approach is child-centred cross curricular and strongly believes in the important use of role models, routines and practical application. The daily routines in the kindergarten are a key aspect to the child’s learning, through adult-lead and child-initiated play. The natural materials and their environment are used to encourage and develop curiosity and imagination. The emphasis on reading and writing does not start until children are seven years old and they work with the child’s personalities.…

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

There are many ways in which emotions can change our state of motivation at any given moment. There are many theories and models that help explain why people are motivated to do the things they do, whether it is at work, school, or just at home with children. However, in some way, they are applicable, and make it easier to understand why humans do what they do. There are two different models being examined today, and the achievement motive as well as the arousal theory will be applied.…

The first day of school, as expected, was strange. Students were all excited to see each other after three months. While everyone else was concerned with catching up with friends, all I really wanted was someone to talk to me. Even if it was simply to ask who I was and what I was doing there. Things continued to be awkward during the first few days. Some people stared, and to others, I was invisible, but…
