Synopsis
Chemical Process Principles 1
This course aims to develop knowledge and expertise in two key areas related to the process industry. It begins with an introduction to the structure of the chemical industry and number of issues associated with the choice of process routes and issues of sustainability. The remainder of the course is devoted to developing and applying methods used in carrying out material balances over a range of equipment and processes encountered in industry.
Chemical Process Principles 2
The course covers the development of energy balances as applied to a wide range of chemical processes such as mixers, distillation columns, evaporators and reactors. The module also provides elementary techniques for the evaluation of vapor-liquid and liquid-liquid equilibria, and gives an introduction to the unit operation-distillation.
Engineering Design
The course covers two subject areas related to design: engineering drawing and simple structural mechanics. An introduction to the principles of representing three dimensional objects in two dimensions is given through a series of lectures and drawing exercises. Also,
