The Black Death was a disease that was carried around by rats and fleas. When the Black Death had hit someone it was known as "catching the disease" the person who caught the disease was sick for about 5-7 days and then was killed. Effects of this disease included being itchy and very sore. There were cures for this disease but they were either too expensive or they didn't work and were a wait of money and energy. So in this case the Black Death just kept going and going, and killing millions of people. In the days when the Black Death was "alive" no one really knew what to do because there wasn't much medical knowledge around. Know that the Black Death has come back there may be cures that are able to get rid of it. Know one really know when the Black Death became alive, and they don't really know where it came from either. The Black Death started spreading through Europe in 1348. The Black Death spread rapidly through, France, Spain, Barcelona, Paris, England and Italy. The Black Death also spread through some very uncommon places, that didn't have a very big population. When the disease first hit Europe people were terrified and really didn't know what to do, because the lack of cures available people needed to find their own way to cure the disease. One of the ways people believed that they would cure the ideas was go to the local church and have the priest pray to heal them. Plague Doctors were hired to come to the city's and treat the patients that had the disease. Many of the consequences by having the Black Death these meant that many prices of products and wars rose in numbers, it meant that greater value was placed on labour, and it also meant that farming land was given over. Some other consequences included, peoples houses were being used to keep the people who had been killed, farms were used to gather all of the animals together and fewer lives were left in the world. At the moment all that the Australian Government can tell us is that approx 29 people have the disease at the moment and will be undergoing surgery in the next few hours to cure this horrible disease.
