Tragic Hero Essay
Tupac, the one and only, is my tragic hero amongst thousands of other people. He was a very successful rap artist, poet and actor. Tupac Shakur was a great man who stood up for his rights, and reached out to people. He is also a tragic hero because he became a well known rapper, and suffered death as a result of his behavior and attitude towards life.
Tupac Shakur was born on June 16, 1971 in New York. He was a distressed child all of his childhood, with no father. The loneliness began to take effect in Tupac. He started writing love songs and poetry as a result. It was then that his mother enrolled him in the 127th Street Ensemble, where he starred his first role at the age of twelve. At fifteen years old, Tupac fell into rap music. He started writing his own lyrics, and had the reputation as a thug in New York. By the time he was twenty, Tupac had been arrested eight times. Tupac furthered his rap career when he was released. In 1992, Tupac made his first solo debut album, "2Pacalypse Now." (Wikipedia.org, Section 2)
My hero's tragic flaw was his behavior and attitude towards life. He had many enemies, because he did not take nonsense from anyone. Tupac was mugged and shot five times on November 30th, 1994. (Wikipedia.org, Section 5) He later accused Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace and two other men of setting him up. (Wikipedia.org) This started an enormous feud between the east coast and the west coast. Also, the night of his death, Tupac and Suge Knight (Death Row CEO) attended Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon boxing match. After the bout, it was then Suge Knight spotted Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, a southside crip. (Anderson and a group of crips had robbed a Death Row member in a Foot Locker store a few weeks earlier.) Knowing this, Shakur then attacked Anderson, with Suge Knight and associates assisting them.
