President Abraham Lincoln the nation to heal as quickly as possible from the Civil War and planned to reunify the nation quickly he was assassinated in 1865 only days after Robert E. Lee’s surrender plans for Reconstruction were taken over by Vice President Andrew Johnson, who became president after Lincoln’s death
President Andrew Johnson to give blacks the right to vote. But the Southerners did not want to share political power with the people that had been slaves.

congress brought impeachment charges many against him in Congress, he had little power over Reconstruction policy. so the radical republicans took over
Radical Republicans They initiated the Reconstruction Acts, and limited political and voting rights for ex-Confederates. and to control the south.

they were opposed during the war by moderates and conservative factions.

the bill vetoed and prevented the bill from becoming a law. And the democrats won the election
Southern Democrats to remove the republicans that were against slavery,and seceded states to regain full rights and the removal of all remaining federal troops from the South and a change in Congress

they had to approve the decision of the commission to make Rutherford B. Hayes president in the election of 1876

They agreed to accept Hayes if he removed all remaining federal troops from the South and named a Southern Democrat to his Cabinet.

part 2 - the main issue relating to Reconstruction that divided Republicans at the end of the Civil War was between the radicals of the republican party and the moderate republicans like lincoln. The moderate groups wanted to bring the south back into the union quickly, while the radicals wanted to give severe punishment and limitations on the southern states and the union. The radicals pushed the reconstruction through the congress, but lincoln stopped the act in 1864. If i was a member of congress at the time my plan for reconstruction would have been the way that Lincoln went about it by making it simple for the south so that the nation would reunite faster. I would do this because he would have helped unity come back.
