Summary
The W Hotel in Hong Kong is a five-star luxury hotel and it opened in 19th January 2009. It is located at Kowloon MTR station and next to the shopping center of ‘The Element’. The W Hotel has 393 guest rooms and the Presidential suite of hotel is located at 38/F of the hotel. The W hotel is not only providing accommodation service. It also named as a brand of fashion design. The innovative designs balance with the superb facilities to create a comfortable environment to every visitor.
The design concept of The W hotel refer to the five phases of Chinese philosophy which is metal, wood, water, fire and earth. The design concept creates an atmosphere of green environment in the centre of city. And meet the trend of environmental protection. It meets with the design concept of ‘The Element’. The W hotel gives an unforgettable impression as it is definitely different from the other hotels in Hong Kong.
The staff of the hotel is included in a part of the hotel design. The hotel hired staff in good sensation of fashion. The W hotel set a new standard of the staff grooming and deportment. Compare with the formal uniform and concordant attitude, the staff of the W hotel gives a refreshing and passional image to visitors. The impression of staff is replaced from formal to distinctive.

The hotel primarily serves the business travelers visiting various corporate headquarters and institutions in the area, including National Institutes of Health and GEICO Insurance. The project consisted of an extensive renovation and re-branding from a Holiday Inn to a Courtyard by Marriott while incorporating sustainable features to demonstrate what is possible while maintaining the Marriott brand standards. Environmental Aspects Sustainable features of hotel include preserving more than 90% of the existing structure and 50% of existing interior non-structural walls. High-performance building insulation and high-efficiency lighting combined with energy efficient HVAC systems accounts for total energy cost savings of 18.6%. Guestrooms and public space feature low flow dual flush toilets and low flow shower heads and faucets, which have contributed to a 40% reduction in potable water demand for the property. The building also features high-albedo roofing and pavers to reflect light and heat energy thereby mitigating the heat island effect and reducing the need for building cooling. All paints, coatings, sealants, adhesives as well as carpet systems are all low VOC. The building’s HVAC system is capable of bringing increased amount of fresh air to further improve indoor air quality. Other amenities onsite include preferred parking spaces for low emission vehicles, bike racks and loaner bicycles for guests and employees, access to a regional transit hub, car sharing program on-site, and an educational program on sustainability for guests.
