White privilege
The definition of White privilege in my eyes would be that privilege exists when one group has something of value that is denied to others simply because of the groups they belong to, rather than because of anything they’ve done or failed to do. Below I selected a few privileges that I found I could relate to and one of them that I could not connect to. For starters, I believe to some degree, most American's have a lot of these privileges in their everyday lives. With that being said for me personally there were a couple of the privileges she mentioned that caught my eye.
I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time.
I picked this privilege because I see it as something I basically do every day, for the simple fact that I spend most of my time at home with my family who in fact is my same "race".
I can be pretty sure that my neighbors in such a location will be neutral or pleasant to me.
I chose this one because I have moved twice in the past two years and thankfully I have had wonderful friendly neighbors but after all even if they were not pleasant to me, I could always choose to either move or ignore them but either way it's my choice.
I can be pretty sure of finding people who would be willing to talk with me and advise me about my next steps, professionally.
I highly agree with this one because we live in a world where if one really wants something, most likely than not, we could reach it (reach our goals with a little push).
I can easily find academic courses and institutions which give attention only to people of my race.
Definitely true, I come from a Hispanic background and now-in-days there are a few scholarships for Hispanic/Latino people.
I can be pretty sure that if I ask to talk to the "person in charge", I will be facing a person of my race.
I didn't so much agree with this privilege at least to my experience because even today most of the higher level of authority is still from some sort of
