ABSTRACT. In this experiment‚ we test factors which affect friction. We pulled a wood block across a surface to determine whetherthe surface area ofthe block orthe type ofsurface affectsfriction. We found that the surface area of the block did not change the coefficient of kinetic friction‚ while the types of materialsin contact were directly related to the coefficient of kinetic friction. INTRODUCTION Friction is a part of our everyday life. Nearly every movement we make involves friction

You rub balloons in your hair and then hang them like in the picture below. Explain why you think they move apart and what might affect how far apart they get. They move apart because they become charged while you are rubbing them in your hair and the charges are the same on both balloons. The more charges you get on the balloon

Observing Various Microevolution Cases using Population Genetics: Using a Population Gene Pool Simulator‚ PopCycle Abstract The study of microevolution was tested in this laboratory experiment through the examination‚ observation‚ and analysis of various population conditions‚ some under the Hardy-Weinberg Theory of Genetic Equilibrium‚ which would advance the student scientists ’ understanding of both microevolution and the mathematical aspects of microevolution known as population genetics.

Nervous System lab was designed to measure reaction times by using a variety of tests that affect the heart rate. These tests were the startle‚ stroop‚ Valsalva maneuver‚ diving reflex‚ and a test of our choice. The test our group chose to measure the heart rate in response to doing a trust fall to anticipate the stress right before the fall. To begin this lab we chose a participant‚ and then hooked their finger up to the pulse transducer sensor. Using the chart 5 program on the lab computer the participant’s

This lab has introduced the use of daphnia‚ pill bugs‚ amoeba and Uglena. We the AP Biology students were first introduced to the test subjects to test his or her capability of handling living organisms for upcoming science experiments. The AP Biology students were asked to create original experiments for all test subjects testing reactions to gravity‚ light intensity and reaction to food. Daphnia‚ or Daphnia magna‚ are microscopic organisms in which the students created an original lab to test

Lab Report: Halogen Reactions Purpose: This experiment will allow for exploration into some of the properties of Group 17 elements (halogens) and their compounds. More specifically‚ the solubility properties of these halogens will be used to predict their reactions. The relative electronegativities of the halogens will be determined. Halides‚such as Cl-‚ Br-‚ and I- will be used to make these determinations. Because this lab is qualitative rather than quantitative‚ there are no calculation

meet the people who would show us the different areas that we went to‚ and who they were. So‚ they finally came and there were 2 ladies Ms .Melonie Montoute (Nurse Recruiter) and Ms. Pamela Toussaint (Director of Recruiting). There were 34 of us on this field trip and out of the 2 ladies we had to choose who to go with and so forth. As they introduced themselves‚ they also told us about the history of the hospital. So‚ in 1982 the government received funds to open up the new hospital which was then named
